A Santa Claus survey had this to say about the economy.

Mall Santas have never seen or heard so many requests from children before for x-mas presents that are not toys. Most of the children are asking Santa for toothpaste, cloths, school supplies, jobs for their parents, food, money to keep the house, The Santas have never, ever seen it this bad and Santa never lies.

The economists and government officials may be saying that technically the worst is over but fundamentally and all the way down to a childs heart this is every bit as bad as the depression of the 1930s.
