Price?
Tell me one thing that this can do but any netbook can’t?
A netbook is $200 less than Ipad
What we didn’t get
iPad vs. Netbook
- A netbook has far more HDD space (16GB for a ~laptop is a JOKE) and CPU power than this
- A netbook has FLASH and MULTI-TASKING
- A netbook has an actual keyboard - where one can efficiently use Office, any program
- A netbook has NO restrictions on what you can download/install
- A netbook has USB Ports - CD/DVD Rom compatibility
- A netbook usually has a HDMI port
- Sam
Notebooks are faster, cheaper and more powerful than this weird thing.
Portable?
What we have is an enlarged iPod Touch that isn’t so portable or a big Iphone that can’t make a call.
Multi task?
Does it multi task? Because if not, it’s not replacing much of anything. This cannot even play FLASH or even Mult-Task, you know the miracle of having more than one program up at one time.
This iPad is just ridiculous.
Price point: between a netbook and a notebook.
Power: between a smartphone and a notebook.
A big, dumb, expensive iPhone. No, thanks. I’d get a notebook instead with double the storage, double the power, a camera, etc, and run real apps on it.
Steve Jobs claimed this device can last 1 month in sleep mode and 10 hours of regular battery life, if that’s true that’s pretty sweet, I wish other devices could get that. Still, form factor and battery life are not enough to make me buy this.
Apple’s really fallen on its own sword, trying to include too much without really doing anything at all. It misses the importance of cloud computing (would have loved to see some collaboration with Google instead of an awkward iWork app), photo and video editing, interaction and conferencing. This needed to be the take-with-you-everywhere device. Email dad. Finish the short story I was working on. Edit some video. Listen to music. Show grandma a live video of your kid. Turns out we already have it. Hello, iPhone.
