At the White House, spokesman Robert Gibbs declared: “Health care reform is not a matter of if. Health care reform is now a matter of when.”

I remember back in the 80’s when there was bipartisan support for the Medicare Catastrophic Coverage Act of 1988 and it passed easily. That bill improved all kinds of new benefits and put a cap on certain benefits as well. Plus, it cost more. The Seniors went nuts when they got back to their respective districts, states, etc. The law was quickly repealed as a result. When people start to really figure out how much this will cost in terms of additional premiums, jobs, taxes, etc. it will be a bloodbath as well. Plus the real kicker for even those who are in favor of this bill will be just like Gibbs says. It’s a matter of WHEN. And the when won’t happen for four years. You couple that little fact with the immediate cost burden and you get Armageddon. I can’t wait for the fun to begin.
It’s a crying shame that this bill wasn’t done properly with bipartisan input and consensus. Obama blew it. Think about all the money, time and effort wasted and we’ll have to come back to the drawing board. They should have focused on jobs and the economy instead.
