BOOM: HOUSE VOTE HOLDER CONTEMPT ON THURSDAY

Sources tell the Washington Post and CNN that the U.S. House has scheduled a vote for Thursday on whether to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. Holder is under fire for failing to turn over documents related to Operation Fast and Furious, the failed gun-walking programthat’s under investigation.

Last week, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee voted 23 to 17 along party lines to hold Holder in contempt, despite President Barack Obama’s invocation, for the first time in his presidency, of executive privilege to withhold the documents.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said Sunday that the vote could still be postponed or scrapped if Holder and Justice Department officials present congressional investigators with documents related to a probe intoOperation “Fast and Furious,” the botched gun-running operation run by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives out of its Phoenix offices between 2009 and 2011.
