Israel’s only hope is a two states-one economy relationship with the Palestinians and serving as the nuclear umbrella for its Arab neighbors against Iran’s nukes. Then, proving itself as back in the Semitic family of the region instead of a European finger in the Middle East via NATO and EU (it will never happen), a smaller Israel can become a bigger Israel, leading the Arabs into modernity with its sci/tech know-how. War means death for Israel because Zionists were not planning on a perpetual military life in a garrison state. The current Likud psychosis manifests both Likudniks’ realization that Greater Israel can’t be and their inability to accept it. So “entrepreneurs” in search of cash are visiting Israel hoping to get money from rich Zionists in the USA. Of course, they can’t compete with the oil Arabs. Likud’s insane paroxysm of today is recognition that it is a dead movement.

But stop and really consider the story for a moment. We have the cow folk, living on the land and raising their cows. And in come the farms, breaking up the range, interfering with the cows. And if that does not make it clear, replace the cow people with the earlier indigenous folk, Native Americans. And then we have a morality tale about the farmers coming in and wiping out the natives. Shane is a great morality tale, but it supports the wrong side.
