Donald Trump has already spent $1million in research for a possible presidential run in 2016

Donald Trump is bringing his name back into the political fray again by spending $1million on research to see if he should run for president in 2016.

‘The Donald’ has publicly speculated about running for the White House in every election since 2000, so his possible interest in the next race comes as little surprise.

That said, the fact that he has spent so much money on the election even though it is still three years away is a shock considering his candidacy is viewed by many political insiders as a joke.

The real estate mogul has talked about a desire to add Commander in Chief to his resume for a number of years, starting in 2000 when he said he would run as a  third party candidate.

In 2004 and 2008, h talked about running as a Republican, and eventually endorsing the party’s 2008 candidate, Senator John McCain.

He did the same- but this time for Mitt Romney-in 2012,although he did hold out until April before endorsing the former Massachusetts governor.

Much of his public speculation in 2012 stemmed from his dislike of President Obama-  including his hiring of private investigators to search for Obama’s ‘real’ birth certificate.

Critics lampooned Trumps’ most recent ‘run’ as a farce used simply to increase ratings on his reality show, The Celebrity Apprentice.
