End the welfare state.

Do you think perhaps if the US government wasn’t confiscating up to 1/3 of people’s money that they might be more inclined to support local taxation? It’s more about a state’s right issue and the constitutionality of the Federal government’s actions. So yes, I want to move this country far to the right.
End the welfare state. Now, we’ll have to deal with a 10-15 yr recession to make this happen, because we’ll have to have unemployment probably around 30%, once we eliminate all the government jobs. And this is the crux of the problem. We’re in a position where we don’t really make much of value and we don’t engineer anything anymore (all jobs in China and India), so what do we do with all those government workers? Where do we take the $75 / hr autoworker, who is grossly overpaid and put him to work? Is he willing to work for a more reasonable $25 / hr?
Can CEOs live on $500,000 per year instead of $50,000,000?
Raise interest rates, encourage savings and stop lending money to people that can’t pay it back. Buy down the debt and cut spending dramatically.
No to government run health insurance. No to a bunch of wars in tribal countries. Bring the troops home, place them on the border of Mexico and at every port of entry. Let the crazy Muslim freaks blow each other up and leave our special forces to take care of targeted assassinations, as necessary to protect us.
Pass meaningful tort reform, so companies, doctors and individuals can’t be sued for $100m for a tort. Get the lawyers out of everyone’s pockets.
Oh and while we’re at it, the census reports that 40% of children born in 2010 are expected to be from single mothers. Nothing the government can do about that and nothing the government should do about that. However, it’s not society’s responsibility to add to the welfare state. Let’s take the money away from the Feds and pour it into local charities, where we can see real need. If we are going to live in a society that has no foundation in responsibility or personal accountability, then let those single mothers rely on their extended families until they can get on their feet.
Take fewer vacations and spend more meaningful time with your family and friends, living a simpler, more disciplined life. And if you don’t want to, that’s fine but don’t ask me to pay for your irresponsibility. Your $20k in credit card debt is YOUR responsibility and the bank is not evil for expecting you to pay it back, even at 24% interest. You were dumb enough to buy a $4,000 television on it and you promised to pay it back, so get a job at the grocery store in the evenings until you have it paid back.
Man up, America and quit whining like a bunch of school girls. The boomers and their kids got us into this mess and now we have to get ourselves out.

I don’t think it’s fair to say take the money and give it to charity and not the single mothers. Just because some of them made a mistake… Not all of them had a choice. It’s commendable when a single mother keeps her child, instead of having an abortion. It shows that she has some responsibility to wanna keep and take care of her child.
