Government wants us to increase debt to boost spending

I think most everyone will agree that living a life based on debt has not panned out for most people, and that we cannot continue to live this way. If we ever plan on moving away from the debt crutch, we will have to endure a serious contraction. The sooner it’s over, the better, but in the meantime, it’s going to be like putting salt in a wound.

I’m getting really tired of hearing analysts carry on about the problems caused by debt in one statement, and then turn around and ponder on how we can get people to spend money. The choices are clear–either keep dishing out credit to every Tom, Dick and Harry who wants it, or deal with the inability of people to spend money they don’t have.

The global economy has put us in this place, and now we have to deal with it. Global corporations are just going to have to sell their wares in the markets where they have placed their jobs and stores who are trying to sell stuff made in other countries will have to consider relocating and surrounding themselves with workers.

Give us jobs and we will spend. You can’t have it both ways.
