Governments Never, Shouldn’t, Can’t ensure jobs

Since when is it the president’s job to create jobs in a country unless that country is Communist?

“For years governments have been promising more than they can deliver, and delivering more than they can afford.”-Paul Martin-

It’ll drive this country into bankruptcy (if it isn’t already). Government can not ensure employment nor should it bailout mismanaged businesses, no matter the consequence. Not only does the government have insufficient money (even if we didn’t have a $50+ trillion dollar debt), it sets a precedence that it can not possibly fulfill. Look what has already occurred:

1. a $700B+ bailout of banks and investment banks,
2. a $150B+ bailout of AIG,
3. insurance companies buying small banks so they can qualify for #1,
4. a $14B+ bailout of GM and Chrysler [and, potentially, Ford],
5. commercial real estate developers asking for a bailout,
6. residential mortgage industry looking for a bailout,
7. I’m sure I missed something…

In addition, Social Security is essentially broke, our money used to pay just the interest on our national debt. Welfare and unemployment benefits are driving states into bankruptcy. Now the government wants to save or create 3 million jobs with money it doesn’t have! What happens when [most of] these workers get laid off after the $800B is gone. They’ll get paid unemployment and/or welfare. With money the government still doesn’t have!

The declaration of independence guarantees us life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I’ve never heard or read anything that said employment was a guarantee; also, there isn’t a constitutional amendment that guarantees employment. These politicians find it so easy to spend our tax dollars with such myopic vision. It’s time they suck it up and make the cold, hard decisions or resign and let someone in who can. 80% of the people of this country are against the bailouts. Well, it’s time we vote into office people who will truly represent our wishes…this is such a fundamental characteristic of a true democracy…anything less is a sign of a socialist government.
