Here are the ACTUALS YTD and the historical comparisons:
W/Ending …… 2010 …… 2009 …… 2008 …… 2007 …… 2006
1/2/2010 … 645,446 … 731,958 … 521,311 … 499,979 … 475,889
1/9/2010 … 804,922 … 959,791 … 547,506 … 506,059 … 555,114
1/16/2010 … 650,728 … 763,987 … 415,149 … 506,709 … 439,873
1/23/2010 … 500,392 … 620,143 … 369,944 … 367,583 … 317,926
1/30/2010 … 530,405 … 682,176 … 380,138 … 359,959 … 318,805
YTD Totals..3,131,893..3,758,055..2,234,048..2,240,289..2,107,607
As you can see, we are not as bad as last year, but WAY ABOVE historical. And let’s face it, 29 million filed last year, another year like that and we’d all be on the line! As it is, we are tracking towards 24 million, 8 million more than the historic data shows. HORRIFIC!
Here’s another interesting look at unemployment when you are thinking of debt fears, the CONTINUING numbers - note also the far right column for the number of people covered - over 3,750,000 have dropped off those rolls since this time last year:
Year … Continuing … EUC 2008 … Total … Covered
2006 … 3,074,962 … …..0 ………. … 3,074,962 … 128,767,336
2007 … 2,981,310 … …..0 ………. … 2,981,310 … 131,188,612
2008 … 3,344,396 … …..0 ………. … 3,344,396 … 133,010,953
2009 … 5,806,901 … 1,839,758 … 7,646,659 … 133,886,830
2010 … 5,665,141 … 5,632,219 … 11,297,360 … 130,128,328
Don’t want to depress too many people. Think about the main thing above - 11,297,360 on continued PLUS 3,758,502 DROPPED from coverage totals 15,055,862!!!! THAT IS TWICE THE NUMBER FROM THIS TIME LAST YEAR!!!!
In his first year of his Presidency while he fiddled on his socialist agenda, the President presided over a loss of at least 7,409,203 jobs!! How many jobs did his stimulus “save or create”? ALL GOVERNMENT POSITIONS, especially teachers in states like NC, CA, NY, NJ and IL
President William J. Clinton had it right when he ran against incumbent President George H. W. Bush - “It’s the economy ………….”.
