Greek yogurt generates electricity in New York!!!
The production of yogurt Greek generates a byproduct watery manufacturers to send back to the farms to be used as feed and fertilizer, but it can also be used to generate power at other points. Thus the Greek yogurt boom in New York is being harnessed to produce electricity.
The treatment of wastewater from Johnstown-Gloversville, west of Albany, gets this byproduct of Fage yogurt factory, located nearby. He goes to a tank of 5.7 million gallons, full of anaerobic bacteria, called anaerobic digester. The resulting methane gas becomes the fuel generating enough electricity to power the plant.
