Excluding rising gasoline sales (read prices), sales increased 0.6%, take from that October’s downward revisions and you have a whopping 0.3% which is below estimates. When rising gasoline prices drive a rebound in retail sales, it is usually not a good sign that the American consumer will power up holiday sales.
