The Expensive NEW Port Mann 11-lane wide suspension bridge, the widest in the world, replaces the aging Original 5-lane bridge as a major upgrade to the TransCanada Highway 1 Freeway System – Tolling began only weeks ago.
Drivers described trying to dodge terrifying icicle bombs several feet long in rush hour traffic. 1 person was knocked unconscious and several others injured.
The bridge design is unique in that all the cables cross above the main deck to the massive two support towers. Apparently the engineers forgot about the occasional snowstorms that hit the NorthWest.
The RCMP has closed the bridge in both directions INDEFINITELY while engineers assess.
Bridge Reopened Shortly After 6PM PST
