Imagine a city of 500,000 losing their jobs every week. This is real, and it is terrible.

After a prosperous 30 year career in finance and consulting, never having time off except for vacation, my family is now faced with long term unemployment (over a year) and loss of our home. This is happening to people like us, highly educated, senior management, experienced, successful, and it doesn’t matter how hard we try to get back in the game, it’s over.
I don’t believe those who say you can buy your house and cars and everything with cash. Tell that to a recent college grad!
We have lived conservatively, have a small house, small cars, and no other debt. After we exhaust our life savings, we will be done.
Believe it or not unemployment is not enough to pay a small mortgage, let alone utilities and food. We couldn’t even afford a one bedroom apartment on unemployment, and we have a family of four.
Most of our friends are in the same boat, wondering what lies ahead.
If you honestly think it is enjoyable being unemployed, getting a few hundred bucks a week, and you can now see the bottom of the freezer, think again.
When it happens to you, you will know the feelings of helplessness, worthlessness, despair, anxiety, and a hundred other things you took for granted.
While it is good to do some soul searching and positive thinking from time to time, now is a time when most of the possible routes to success are no longer remotely possible, so people will be forced to change their entire paradigm, and seek first to survive for themselves, and those they love.
Good Luck out there
