It is NOT the job of the government to prop up the stock market.

People invest in the market knowing full well they are taking a risk. That risk is why they make a profit when it does well and lose money when it doesn’t.
When people are making profits they don’t share them with the rest of the country. Why should the rest of the country pay for their losses?
The reason is obvious. Look at the way people from Wall Street end up in Washington. Look at the way people from Washington end up back on Wall Street. One hand washing the other.
The only part of that hand the general public gets to see is the middle finger pointed at us.
I believe in capitalism. The problem is that we no longer have capitalism. We have “selective capitalism”, where when times are good the wealthy keep their big profits, and when times are bad the rest of us get to make up their losses for them.
They have proven they cannot be trusted and do need more regulation, but you will never see any meaningful regulation.
Oh they will scream and complain and make a fuss just to put on a show.
Just lots of smoke and mirrors and nothing meaningful.
They will make ure of that.
