Along with this the organic LED technology will be improving, and in particular areas both technologies will fill necessary requirements.

The cost for the size and performance of a quality LCD monitor or LCD TV set has out done the CRT monitors. The LCD monitors do not emit X-Ray and electromagnetic radiation, which is a big plus for health issues. All CRT monitors were high in radiation emissions.

Over the long run, the LCD monitors will outlast the CRT types. When time for disposal, the CRT monitors were much less friendly for the environment. The CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) contains rare earth phosphors, mercury, zinc, and other required chemical elements that are not environmentally friendly.

The only drawback with this new technology is that it was not designed to be serviceable, and the manufactures do not support out of warranty service. There are very few components in these devices that can be serviced, or are economical to service. When these monitors fail out of warranty, they are throw away devices, and the user must buy a new one.

The new technology is making more employment in the land fill and recycling industries. Specific types of metals, rubbers, glass, and plastics are able to be recycled. This is a growing industry, and we’ve been having problems of where to put all our disposed products and garbage. It’s only going to get worse unless someone can come up with some viable answers that will work.
