Local governments have been raising taxes like crazy in fees and fines.

My dog a month ago bit the electric meter reader, just the slightest nick on the shin like you walk into something, because the guy started banging on the “beware of dog” sign “to attract my attention.”
The black kid had no sense that if there was a dog that was already barking at you not to do that.
The result was the county slapped me with a ticket for $512 plus another $180 in fines for not having the current tag and vaccine (a few months late) plus convenience fee for calling in and paying with credit card.
Then just yesterday I got a $205 speeding ticket on a big highway because the speed limit was 50 and I was going over 60 - the highway was big and wide open like a freeway - I hadn’t got a ticket in…don’t even remember.
Wow! Is that how much a ticket costs now?
Plus I would have to pay for driving school to avoid points?
The irony is I always go at 60 to save fuel.
The saddest part is I was on the way to city hall to pay a $2500 fine for putting in some doors and windows trying to protect myself in a prior year with multiple hurricanes one after another.
That was on top of about a $1000 in permits.
So be careful because they’re all hungry for money and out to shake you down.
All the better if you can’t pay, they’ll increase the fines and make more money.
Oh the perversion of it all.
America has gotten used to spending like addicts, and would do anything to fuel the habit.
You’re nothing more than a source of funds.
