Hacking group Anonymous has launched OperationUSA (#OpUSA), a coordinated online attack against nine US government sites and more than 130 financial institutions for 7 May, according to a post published in failbin.

The attack, according to Anonymous, would be a response to social and political injustices. “America you have committed multiple war crimes in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and recently you have committed war crimes in your own country. …Now it is our time for our Lulz (fun),” the group said.

Here is a list of the websites that they plan to target:

Tag team: Jihadis, hackers join forces to launch cyberattacks on United States

Middle East- and North Africa-based criminal hackers are preparing cyberattacks this week against the websites of high-profile U.S. government agencies, banks and other companies, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

The attacks, dubbed #OpUSA, for Operation USA, will begin Tuesday, the department said in a warning bulletin circulated to the private sector last week. The bulletin was first obtained and posted online by blogger and cybercrime expert Brian Krebs.

The attacks are called for in the name of Anonymous, the leaderless coalition of hackers whose trademark Guy Fawkes mask has become a global symbol for their anarchistic spirit.

I have been warning people about the biggest security hole commonly left wide open in consumer banks accounts.

If you have not closed your consumer accounts to out-going wire transfers and ACH transfers, you can have up to $75,000 removed from your account in a single electronic transaction.

If your accounts do not allow electronic wire transfers or ACH transfers, these cyber attacks cannot empty your account. The criminals literally would have to show up at the teller window. And that is not going to happen.

Credit cards and debit cards typically have transaction limits, so those are relatively safe.

BillPay systems typically are set-up so that you need not even have the money in your account, because BillPay systems loan you the money to pay your bills, and then they come to collect it after the money has disappeared into the abyss. You could be on the hook in a very big way. And these problems very definitely will immediately negatively affect your credit rating. You could be setting yourself up for a world of hurt using BillPay at your bank.

Wires and ACH transfers have an upper level limit of $75,000. That limit cannot be lowered. $75,000 is the most that can be withdrawn from your account in a single swipe.

$75,000 is a lot of money to most people, especially, if it is in the form of a loan made to you because this is what you agreed to when you signed up with your bank to use BillPay.

BillPay is usually a third-party vendor acting on behalf of your bank. If you did not read the fine print, you could be in for a real shock about the terms of the agreement.
