Meet the 80-year-old grandmother who wants 80,000 Twitter followers before she dies… and Rihanna and J-Lo are helping her get there
A wise-cracking, Jersey Shore-inspired 80-year-old grandmother wants 80,000 Twitter followers before she dies – and her celebrity ‘adopted grandchildren’ are going to help.
The youthful senior, Josephine Lamberti (aka Josie Dimples, aka @j_dimps), is a Staten Island grandmom whose hilarious tweets and YouTube videos have attracted the attention of nearly 76,000 fans and who is followed on Twitter by the likes of Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and Missy Elliott.
Declaring, ‘I’m 80yrs old & I want 80k followers (or maybe a million) before I die,’ the tech-savvy pensioner has only been using the social networking site for a year.

Featured in this month’s People Magazine, Lamberti is creeping closer to her goal, asking her celebrity friends to help re-tweet her posts to push her over the line.
Becoming the internet’s most unlikely star personality by accident, Lamberti was simply looking for something to occupy her active mind after her husband died.
Turning to her grandson, personal trainer Donny Brandefine, Lamberti asked for his help to get her online.
Josephine Lamberti appeals directly to her follower Jennifer Lopez for help in cracking the 80,000 followers barrier
‘I was bored and I wanted some action, so I says, ‘Donny, you want to teach me the computer so I can, you know, tweet or something?’ according to the New York Times
Deciding to set his grandmother up with the internet handle Josie Dimples, @j_dimps for short, Donny began videoing Lamberti’s humorous rants on life.
‘I figured, let’s put Dimps to work here,’ said Donny.
‘It’s obvious she’s not your average 80-year-old.’
