Power Outages Sweeping Across Central Texas

Power line fires are causing outages across Central Texas, and leaving thousands of residents without power. According to the Oncor Electric Delivery Company power outage website, about 2,798 customers have been affected in the Central Texas area. There have been 14 power outages reported affecting 649 customers in McLennan County, and 6 outages reported in Bell County that is affecting 2,116 customers….

Power Outage

WACO (December 6, 2012)-Power poles in as many as five Central Texas counties were burning Thursday morning and authorities were trying to find out why.

He said the fires that had been reported were burning at the tops of the poles, some involving transformers.

Various power company representatives had been dispatched to survey the damage and several fire departments were sent to douse the flames.

Fire departments in McGregor and Moody were dealing with power pole fires as well.

closure affected the portion of I-30 between Garland and Rowlett, preventing vehicles from using the bridge spanning Lake Ray Hubbard, and prompting a major traffic jam
