Spin it how you want but a loss is still a loss.

There is no confidence and the smart people are continuing to claw back on unnecessary spending and paying down debt loads. Declining revenues (taxes collected) and higher expenditures (entitlement programs, welfare, food stamps) by our Federal Government are going to put sovereign default in the picture if this spending keeps up. Rex, you should also not forget those of us in college who have degrees (I have 2) but no jobs. We are forced to either move back in with mom and dad or go to graduate school. Truly a “lost generation.”

And just my personal opinion if the criminal prosecutions started sooner rather than later that would jump start consumer confidence far more than these failed “stimulus” packages like cash for trash, clunkers, and GE appliances. All we want is a fair shot in life… I guess that’s too much to ask for.

We can NOT afford a Jobless Recovery! We cannot afford to have even more busy body government bureaucracy’s set up telling us what we can and can’t do! We need private sector jobs created by consumer DEMAND by small business owners! We need a total revamp of our nations manufacturing, industrial production sectors. We can NOT trade paper assets. The production of tangible goods is the only way out. We should not “idolize” Corporate America when they have absolutely NO loyalty to America and ship jobs to Mexico just for the sake of “profits.”

We have to invest in technology NOW. Retool and reequip some of these Detroit auto factories with robotics. We have to restore confidence in our financial system. We need leaders who have real values, intelligence, integrity, someone able to adapt to a changing environment and who knows the difference between right and wrong. We need to cut and gut the government on all levels. We have to allow un-manipulated market forces to function as envisioned by Adam Smith. Finally, we need government to quit telling us how to live our lives, telling us to spend money we don’t have. Jobs will only come back when confidence and consumer demand is restored. People can no longer engage in “rent seeking” activities and “conspicuous consumption.”
