Storms Turn Deadly; March East


An unusual January severe weather system that started Tuesday afternoon continued to barrel its way east Wednesday, stretching from the Deep South to the Mid-Atlantic.

The severe threat includes many major cities: Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh, Philadelphia, New York City, Washington, D.C., and southern New England could see 60 mph winds Wednesday night, forecasters said.

“The storms are pummeling the Atlanta metro right now,” noted The Weather Channel’s severe weather expert Dr. Greg Forbes around 2:30 p.m. eastern.

Forbes also said “a narrow band with gusty winds” were closing in on Baltimore and Washington, DC. He expected the storms to hit the area within the hour.
