(CNN) Two F-16 fighter jets were dispatched by the North American Aerospace Defense Command to intercept a civilian aircraft near Washington, D.C., NORAD said Wednesday.
The incident happened about 12:15 p.m. ET after the aircraft failed to establish radio contact, the agency said in a press release.
