Senate immigration bill could double guest workers
The Senate immigration bill could nearly double the number of guest workers allowed into the U.S., according to a new analysis the Center for Immigration Studies is releasing Wednesday that says the jump is four times the increase of the last immigration bill in 2007.
That previous bill failed in part because liberal lawmakers felt the new guest workers would compete with Americans for jobs.

From Forbes:
I don’t generally publish end-of-year predictions, mainly because I usually am wrong (a failing that does not seem to prevent any number of others from doing so, however). But last year I made an exception when I predicted that the biggest economic story of 2013 would be the death of the full-time job in the American retail service sector.
But this was not really an exception to my rule about [...]

Will a robot take your job? We have entered a period in human history when technology is advancing at an exponential rate. In some ways, this has been a great blessing for humanity. For example, I am absolutely blown away by all of the things that my little iPod can do. But on the other hand, all of this technology is eliminating millions upon millions of high paying jobs. [...]
from FT:
America isn’t working. The grim reality of today’s US economy is that 24m people who want to work cannot get a job. That is an astounding number. That is a level of long-term unemployment that has not been seen since the Great Depression.
What we have become good at is creating more part-time jobs, not full-time jobs. Manufacturing jobs have been replaced by new jobs in healthcare, warehousing and retail, [...]
American Express Co. said Thursday that it will slash roughly 5,400 jobs, mainly in its travel business, as it seeks to cut costs and transform its operations as more of its customers shift to online portals for booking travel plans and other needs.
The job cuts will be partly offset by jobs that the company expects to add this year, however.
All told, American Express anticipates that staffing levels will end up [...]
The US is apparently slowing legal immigration in an attempt to save American jobs but almost ironically legal immigrants are job creators.
The United States remains highly selective over just who it allows in from abroad to set up a business. The authorities fear the outsiders may take jobs from ordinary Americans – but they’re the ones who could in fact be providing them.

A new chart set to be released by the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee details an alarming fact: In the last three months, more Americans have joined disability than have found a job:
As the chart shows, between April-June 2012, an estimated 246,000 Americans were added to Social Security’s disability insurance program. In that same time period, only 225,000 American jobs were created.

DALLAS (AP) — American Airlines says it will reduce flights in July partly because of a shortage of pilots due to more of them calling in sick.
The 1 percent reduction in July’s schedule follows a 1.5 percent cutback in June, which was also blamed partly on higher usage of sick leave by pilots.
A union spokesman said Wednesday that pilots could be taking care of elective procedures before American raises their [...]
From Carpe Diem:
I’m reminded of that old joke about the young boy who says to his father, “Dad, I want to grow up and be a musician!” The father responds, “Well son, you can’t do both.”
Likewise, Obama tells us he wants to create more jobs and continue to subsidize green energy. Well Mr. President, you can’t do both.
It’s an economic reality that you cannot create a net increase in American [...]

President Obama on Thursday will unveil a summer-jobs initiative that the White House says is already on track to create 180,000 “work opportunities” in the private sector in 2012.
That is the number of opportunities, which includes mentoring and unpaid internships, that companies have told the administration they are willing to create. Some 70,000 jobs are paid, the White House says.
The initiative was hatched after Congress failed [...]
Old and busted: Jobs “saved or created.” New hotness: Jobs “supported.” In attempting to advance the argument for Barack Obama’s new jobs stimulus plan, the White House has decided to create a new term that has, er, even less meaning than their previous measure:
The American Jobs Act Will Support Nearly 400,000 Education Jobs—Preventing Layoffs and Allowing Thousands More to Be Hired or Rehired: The President’s plan [...]
The Obama campaign sent out an email today asking supporters to urge Congress to at least vote on the president’s jobs bill almost immediately after Democratic majority leader Harry Reid blocked a vote on the bill in the Senate.
On the Senate floor today, Republican leader Mitch McConnell asked for unanimous consent to proceed on voting on the bill. Reid, who has struggled to find enough votes for the [...]
Remember when Barack Obama addressed a joint session of Congress to introduce his American Jobs Act, exhorting them on national television to “pass this bill immediately”? Obama used that phrase in various forms 17 times despite the fact that he didn’t actually have a bill to present to Congress until a week later. And as far as all but two members of Congress are concerned, [...]
Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said, at the moment, Democrats in Congress don’t have the votes to pass President Obama’s jobs bill, but Durbin added that that situation would change.
“Not at the moment, I don’t think we do, but, uh, we can work on it,” Durbin said, according to Chicago radio station WLS.
President Obama has been calling for Congress to pass his American Jobs Act since legislators returned from [...]
“We are disappointed in the United States.” That’s a sentiment we seem to hear all too often from our allies these days. A Taiwan Ministry of National Defense official uttered those words to Defense News with word that the Obama Administration will deny his country new F-16 fighters. As Defense News puts it, the Obama Administration’s decision came as a result of “bowing to Chinese pressure.” Instead [...]

The Seattle Times: Nation & World: Bush report: Sending jobs overseas helps U.S.
“WASHINGTON — The movement of American factory jobs and white-collar work to other countries is part of a positive transformation that will enrich the U.S. economy over time, even if it causes short-term pain and dislocation, the Bush administration said yesterday...”
They didn’t mention that only the top 1% would be enriched.

1. Goldman Sachs just fired 1,000 highly paid American workers and Exported their jobs to Singpore. This is the same Goldman Sachs that got $10-billion in Bailout funds. This is the same Goldman Sachs that paid out $20-billion in bonuses last year.
2. After the Bush Tax Cuts, the “Job Creators,” quadrupled the number of jobs shipped overseas:
2002 – 588,000
2003 – 315,300
2004 – 536,500
2005 – 832,000
2006 – 963,500
2007 – 1,095,500
2008 – 1,252,000
Total: 5,582,800
Those jobs were replaced [...]
John Boehner thinks subsidizing big oil is good for the economy
A little over two weeks ago, John Boehner dropped a bit of a bombshell, telling ABC News he was open to ending tax subsidies for big oil. Within 24 hours, his office was already backing offhis comments, and as of today, he’s completely reversed course, saying Democratic proposals to repeal tax subsidies for big oil shouldn’t even be on the table.
It’s a non-starter for [...]

I am posting just the link because there are important charts with this brief article. Read it and quote it to all of those that like to say, ‘give tax breaks to corporations, it will create jobs’.
That’s crap! Always was. A healthy economy creates jobs – nothing else.

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL), who admits to owning an iPad, blames the Apple Inc. product for “eliminating thousands of American jobs.”
“A few short weeks ago I came to the House floor after having purchased an iPad and said that I happened to believe, Mr. Speaker, that at some point in time this new device, which is now probably responsible for eliminating thousands of American [...]

We all know how nicely the Bush and Obama Administrations treated JPMorgan and the other big Wall Street banks.
But the fact that JPMorgan has a cushy relationship with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services may not be as well known.
In fact, JPMorgan and the international trade in workers might be called a “three-fer”:
1) The firm has shipped thousands of what had been American jobs overseas, but [...]
One of the reasons this will happen is the breakdown of the American family. It is a problem government can’t deal with. It is caused by feminist education and feminist entertainment.
Feminism is the philosophy of attempting to make women masculine and attempting to make women have masculine lifestyles.
The results of feminism are beginning to become known:
1. Divorce rate went from 10% to 50%
2. Illegitimacy rate went from 12% to over [...]
