Gold “Still Bearish” as Western Buying “Cools”, But Indian Festival Demand Seen Matching ETF Outflows
SPOT GOLD PRICES slipped back below $1470 per ounce Thursday morning in London, drifting as world stock markets failed to follow Wall Street higher, where equities yesterday hit new all-time highs.
Silver held above $24.00 per ounce, just shy of last week’s finish, as commodities slipped overall.

 from Jim Willie CB:
NEW ASIAN TRADE ZONE
The division between East and West actually accelerated when the extremely ill-advised decision for Iran sanctions was made by an increasingly desperate United States Govt and its handler on the Southern Med. The division continues, matures, and develops with each passing month. It has become a story, as the Eurasia trade zone concept has been born. It has a long way to go, but Asia [...]
Next year, university graduates struggling to make student loan payments may be spared from writing checks to collectors.
That’s because, as Bloomberg reports, Rep. Tom Petri (R-WI) plans to introduce a bill which forces employers to deduct loan payments from wages in the same manner as taxes.
Under his plan, there would be a cap set at 15 percent of the borrowers’ income.
Similar versions of this system are in place in the U.K., [...]
President Barack Obama attended the summit to sell a US-based Trans-Pacific Partnership excluding China. He didn’t. The American led-partnership became a party to which no-one came.
Instead, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, plus China, India, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, will form a club and leave out the United States. As 3 billion Asians become prosperous, interest fades in the prospective contribution of 300 million Americans

China’s slowdown dragged Hong Kong’s retail-sales growth to the weakest pace since 2009 as shoppers visiting from the mainland cut back on purchases of luxury goods such as jewelry and watches.
Sales increased 8.8 percent in May from a year earlier to HK$36 billion ($4.6 billion), the government said on its website yesterday. That was the smallest gain since September 2009, excluding seasonal distortions each January and February.
The deceleration of Asia’s [...]

As you’ve probably heard by now, this is shaping up to be a landmark week for the Fed, which holds a two-day policy meeting starting Tuesday.
In addition to Ben Bernanke’s first-ever press conference on Wednesday, the fate of the Fed’s quantitative easing program is likely be decided at this week’s FOMC meeting.
The Fed’s $600 billion QE2 program is widely expected to end on June 30, as [...]
China’s leading credit rating agency has stripped America, Britain, Germany and France of their AAA ratings, accusing Anglo-Saxon competitors of ideological bias in favour of the West.
Dagong Global Credit Rating Co used its first foray into sovereign debt to paint a revolutionary picture of creditworthiness around the world, giving much greater weight to “wealth creating capacity” and foreign reserves than Fitch, Standard & Poor’s, or Moody’s.
The US falls to AA, [...]
