Switzerland has given the green light for a new prenatal test for Down’s syndrome amid controversy over whether this will lead to more abortions, a Swiss newspaper reported Sunday.

Researchers have identified a ‘genetic switch’, carried by one in five women, that doubles their risk of developing breast cancer.
Experts described the breakthrough by scientists at Imperial College London as “exciting” and said signs of the disease could be detected “many decades in advance”.
Drinkng one sugar-laden soft drink every day could dramatically increase the odds of having a heart attack.
A study of more than 40,000 men suggested that a daily sugar-sweetened drink raised the chances of having a heart attack – including a deadly one – by 20 per cent.
In contrast, diet varieties that use artificial sweeteners were given a clean bill of health by the study’s authors.
