More states crack down on texting while driving

Thirty-four states plus the District of Columbia have text-messaging bans. In 31 states and D.C., it is a primary offense, meaning drivers can be pulled over specifically for texting.
Police nationwide are issuing a growing number of tickets for texting while driving as more states make the practice a primary offense and become aggressive in cracking down.
