Over 10,000 greet Romney/Ryan in High Point, NC

With expectations high, a Sunday afternoon campaign rally in High Point, N.C. appeared to deliver for the newly formed Republican presidential ticket.

Campaign officials for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney tell The Daily Caller that well over 10,000 people attended a campaign rally at High Point’s Absolute Style Furniture showroom Sunday. The campaign estimates that 1,200 people were inside the venue while another 10,000 were outside.

The event, part of the campaign’s “Romney Plan [...]

CANCER AD EXCUSE GROWS MESSY

Oops? President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign washed its hands Wednesday of an independent group’s vicious (and misleading) ad effectively blaming Mitt Romney for the death of a laid-off steelworker’s wife from cancer. Campaign officials flatly denied any knowledge of the facts in the case—but it turns out the widower told the same story on an Obama campaign conference call in mid-May. (The Obama campaign responded late in the day: See update below).

Obama Team Lies, Says They Didn’t Know Soptic Cancer Story

Today, two top Obama campaign officials fibbed on national television, explaining that they didn’t know about the case of Joe Soptic, a former employee of GST Steel who appeared in an ad by an Obama-associated Super PAC, Priorities USA Action. That ad controversially – and falsely – claimed that Bain Capital’s shutdown of GST Steel caused Soptic to lose his health insurance, his wife to lose her health insurance, and [...]

Mark Twain rightly stated, “If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you’re misinformed.” This goes hand in glove with a recent Gallup poll, which revealed that only 21 percent of Americans have confidence in television News. Rightly so. Why? Most people don’t buy the lies the media pushes on them.

Richard Cohen, senior producer for CBS, said, “We are going to impose [...]

The New York Times Admits That Virtually Every Major News Organization Allows The News To Be Censored By Government Officials

by Michael

In one of the most shocking articles that the New York Times has ever put out, a New York Times reporter has openly admitted that virtually every major mainstream news organization allows government bureaucrats and campaign officials to censor their stories.  For example, almost every major news organization in the country has agreed to submit virtually all quotes from anyone involved in the Obama campaign or the Romney campaign [...]

Racks up huge credit card fees

President Obama portrays himself as a watchdog of credit card companies and a critic of their fees, but his re-election campaign is a gold mine for some of those same companies.

Documents filed with the Federal Election Commission show that Obama for America paid more than $480,000 in credit card fees in June. The campaign of Republican Mitt Romney, by comparison, paid about $37,000 in charge-card fees last month.

The Obama campaign paid those [...]

Bloomberg:

Democrats are considering canceling their political convention’s kick-off event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, as party planners grapple with a roughly $27 million fundraising deficit, according to two people familiar with matter.

Convention and campaign officials will make a final decision later this week after Steve Kerrigan, the chief executive officer of the Charlotte, North Carolina convention committee, discusses the matter with President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign, based in Chicago, said the [...]

Obama spends record amount of time fundraising

No, it’s not your imagination: President Barack Obama is spending a whole lot of time fundraising, perhaps more than any incumbent president in history.

Including this week’s trip to California, he will have spent eight of 24 weekdays during the past month – that’s a third of them – on the road and collecting cash.

BLAME GAME: Republicans rooting for failure in economy, Obama campaign says

They are and they are traitors for it. If Americans elect Romney then they deserve to have their children die on the battlefield for the Owl Demon Moloch of Bohemian Grove.

WASHINGTON — Republicans are hoping the economy continues to struggle so they can win the White House in November and should put those political concerns aside and take steps to boost job creation, top Obama campaign officials said Sunday.

“They need [...]

Obama campaign working to counter new voter ID laws

President Obama’s reelection campaign launched a national drive Friday to counter new restrictive voter-access laws, which advisers said threaten his electoral chances in November.

Organizers will fan out in key swing states this weekend to teach volunteers and voters how to navigate a series of laws passed by Republican-controlled state legislatures imposing stricter identification requirements, limiting early voting and making it harder to organize voter-registration drives. It is the beginning of [...]

White House Deputy Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri is scheduled to take the witness stand on Wednesday in the John Edwards trial.

BIDEN LEFT OUT OF TOP CAMPAIGN MEETINGS

On Sunday evenings, President Obama meets with his top ten campaign officials to “gather for a confidential briefing on his re-election,” according to the New York Times. Present at these meetings, which, we learn, usually take place after the president’s Sunday golf outings, are a slew of White House and campaign officials.

“The attendance roster, which was confirmed by multiple people familiar with the list, reveals a mix of White House staff, [...]

Obama Campaign Grapples With New Voter ID Laws

WASHINGTON — Field workers for President Obama’s campaign fanned out across the country over the weekend in an effort to confront a barrage of new voter identification laws that strategists say threaten the campaign’s hopes for registering new voters ahead of the November election.

Many of the laws in question — including the ones in Florida and Wisconsin — are the subject of legal challenges by Democratic groups who say they [...]

WASHINGTON (AP) – Campaign officials: Jon Huntsman to withdraw from race for Republican presidential nomination.

Former Utah governor Jon Huntsman has decided to end his presidential candidacy and will formally exit the race on Monday, according to two sources briefed on his thinking. He is expected to endorse former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

“This was his decision alone,” said one former adviser. “Alone.”

WSJ: Obama Aims at Election Laws

CHICAGO—The Obama re-election campaign has quietly opened a counteroffensive against Republican-backed changes to election laws that Democrats say will suppress votes for their candidates and limit their get-out-the-vote drives.

The effort, led by former White House counsel Robert Bauer, prompted the suspension of an Ohio law limiting early voting. Campaign officials produced educational materials to counter a Wisconsin law that requires voters to produce photo I.D.s—but disallows those used by Wisconsin [...]

FIZZLE: Obama’s Fundraising Lags Behind 2008 Pace

You’ll recall that at the end of last month, I had doubts that Obama’s fundraising would be as bad as some predicted.

From the June 30 Morning Jolt:

Campaign officials revealed during the last week that they have set a target of raising $60 million for the quarter from at least 450,000 donors. But even $60 million would not seem to be a very ambitious goal for Obama. He [...]

Exec at NBC parent company raises $1.2 million for Obama

PHILADELPHIA — President Obama raised more than $1.2 million at two campaign fundraisers here Thursday night, the last events of his money-raising blitz in this early stage of the 2012 campaign.

Campaign officials said about 800 people, each giving at least $100, attended the first event, at a Hyatt hotel. Later in the evening, Comcast’s executive vice president, David L. Cohen, hosted about 120 people in [...]

OBAMA TELLS CROWD: REMEMBER 2008!

PHILADEPHIA (AP) – Even as President Barack Obama’s re-election effort is powering toward an impressive early fundraising haul, campaign officials are trying to reassure donors who have concerns about a range of policy decisions and pace of change during Obama’s first term.

Some top donors and even members of Obama’s campaign team say that to replicate the success of 2008, the president and his advisers must [...]

‘From access to top West Wing officials to possible food tasting with White House chef’

President Obama and top White House aides are waging a behind-the-scenes push to win over skeptical big-dollar donors — whose early money is needed to help fund a dramatic summertime expansion of his battleground-state machinery.

Campaign officials are working to broaden Obama’s network of “bundlers,” the well-connected rainmakers tasked with soliciting big checks from wealthy donors, while seeking to preserve the aura of a grass-roots [...]

WAR NO. 4: USA INTENSIFIES SECRET YEMEN AIRSTRIKES

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration has intensified the American covert war in Yemen, exploiting a growing power vacuum in the country to strike at militant suspects with armed drones and fighter jets, according to American officials.

The acceleration of the American campaign in recent weeks comes amid a violent conflict in Yemen that has left the government in Sana, a United States ally, struggling to cling to power. Yemeni troops that [...]
