For all his endless posturing, North Korea’s Un has done absolutely nothing. And if his inability and unwillingness to translate threats into actions continue, that will pretty much be it for North Korea’s hope to even get a few loose pennies as a nuisance factor. This may be tested in the next 48 hours as South Korea and the US begin two days of joint naval exercises off the country’s east coast, [...]
Spain is officially insolvent: get your money out while you still can
I’d not noticed this until someone drew my attention to it, but the latest IMF Fiscal Monitor, published last month, comes about as close to declaring Spain insolvent as you are ever likely to see in official analysis of this sort. Of course, it doesn’t actually say this outright. The IMF is far too diplomatic for such language. But that’s [...]
Australia said that so far it has attracted 170 applicants to a new program to develop foreign investment by offering overseas millionaires the right of residency in return for a portion of their wealth, in a bid to help the country compete better against other nations for money and expertise from abroad.
The so-called significant investor visa was launched in November. If all those made so far are accepted, the applications, [...]
TAIPEI (Reuters) – Taiwan’s exports shrank unexpectedly in April as sales to China and Europe sputtered, underscoring increasing fragility in global demand, especially for the island’s high-tech products.
April exports fell 1.9 percent from a year earlier, much worse than the 1.35 percent growth forecast in a Reuters poll and compared with growth of 3.3 percent in March.

A British tourist has complained after finding ‘cervical cancer with chips’ on the menu at a restaurant in Poland.

ASK ordinary people about their own Chinese dream, and you find owning a home is high on the list.
But years of rising house prices have put that dream out of reach of many. A slowing economy appeared to take some of the heat out.
Now, alas, the residential property market is soaring again (see chart). A new survey of developers and property firms on May 2nd showed average house prices up [...]
May 2, 2013 – INDIA - A platoon of Chinese soldiers slipped across the boundary into India in the middle of the night, according to Indian officials. They were ferried across the bitterly cold moonscape in Chinese army vehicles, then got out to traverse a dry creek bed with a helicopter hovering overhead for protection. They finally reached their destination and pitched a tent in the barren Depsang Valley in the Ladakh region, a symbolic [...]
Time for them to join the current global dick-measuring contests.
Strike by even a midget nuke will invite massive response, India warns Pak
“NEW DELHI: India will retaliate massively even if Pakistan uses tactical nuclear weapons against it. With Pakistan developing “tactical” nuclear warheads, that is, miniaturizing its weapons to be carried on short-range missiles, India will protect its security interests by retaliating to a “smaller” tactical attack in exactly the same [...]
Over the last three days, countries around the world have been publishing their manufacturing purchasing managers index (PMI) reports.
And the message around the world is clear: manufacturing activity decelerated sharply in April.
The U.S. and China are growing marginally, but both decelerated. Europe continues to be in sharp contraction. And even Germany saw its manufacturing sector begin to contract in April.
According to JP Morgan, the global manufacturing PMI fell to 50.5 in April, down from [...]
A new mental health law that takes effect in China on May 1, 2013 grants unprecedented patient rights and personal liberties. Meanwhile, back in the USSA, those very same rights are being eliminated. Go figure.
Under the new Chinese law, which has been debated and revised since 1985, mental health treatment has been deemed voluntary in the vast majority of cases. This is sure to come as a relief to a [...]
WASHINGTON, April 29 (Yonhap) — Top U.S. and Japanese defense officials agreed Monday to step up cooperation on two of the thorniest regional security issues — North Korea’s threats and China’s growing territorial assertiveness.
“The United States, like all of our allies in the region, as well as over 80 countries of the world, are very concerned about the situation on the Korean Peninsula,” U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel said
But here’s the thing: Jiang only made $185,000 a year. As the Financial Times notes, that’s less than 1% of the pay package of Goldman Sachs boss Lloyd Blankfein. And at least on a dollar-adjusted basis, Jiang is down more than 21% from his 2008 salary of $234,700.
There’s a growing perception in New Delhi that China, under its new president and commander-in-chief, Xi Jinping, is becoming more belligerent – a view bolstered by the recent infiltration of Chinese troops 10 km into the Indian border district of Ladakh.
This flies in the face of Xi’s imaging so far as a sober and friendly leader, widely seen as someone trying to resolve China’s domestic challenges and taking advantage of [...]

NWO Marches on as China continues to morph. Dempsey looks so proud! Positively BEAMING!
From the department of interesting timing.
This week we saw our first real market rattling in awhile.
Commodities got absolutely hammered, and the renewed deflationary chill law to a series of violent up and down swings, resulting in the worst week in some time.
Also, US data is softening (and things aren’t hot in Europe or China either).
And yet. At least as of very recently, big money managers are bullish on historical levels.
From Barron’s [...]
In a deep incursion, Chinese troops have entered the Indian territory in Daulat Beg Oldi(DBO) sector in eastern Ladakh and erected a tented post, setting the stage for a face-off with Indian troops.

The CFTC is sitting on information that implicates JPMorgan as manipulating the futures market in Silver and Gold.
An ex JP Mongan employee ( whistleblower ) spills the truth about JP Morgans crooked trading – this could be huge – the guy had to hide out in china over the last year because they would of killed him. You really think Fort Knox has any gold left with JP Morgan running [...]
Bank of America says the gold crash since Friday has already discounted sales of the entire Cypriot, Portuguese and Greek gold reserves combined. “As we believe additional gold selling in the European periphery is highly unlikely, we find it hard to fully justify the sell-off,” it said.
