Why do men and women have a such a hard time relating to each other in a meaningful way in America today? Could our oversexed culture have anything to do with it? In the United States today, we are constantly being bombarded with sexual messages. Just think about it. Did you watch the Super Bowl a few weeks ago? Most of the commercials were about sex on some level, [...]
from Gold Money:
Last Friday night (European time, 8 February) the Bank Participation Report for 5 February was released. This showed that US banks reduced their net short gold position by 12,886 contracts over the month of January, while non-US banks increased theirs by 2,887 contracts. This is evidence that the US banking community is aggressively closing its short positions. A little of this was picked up by the non-bank commercials (mostly [...]
Thought people who don’t have cable/satellite or loose it during the storm might like to have this link. Watch the Weather Channel for free on YouTube. Plus no commercials! They show the radar with music when commercials usually run. ENJOY!

In his latest missive, Mr. Sinclair explains: ‘You must note how central banks are either buying or protecting their gold reserve positions now. This is total about face two years ago. There is another change coming which is a replacement monetary system and the need for some asset on central bank’s balance sheets to have positive value, especially in the USA. Soon all that is required is a change in [...]
From King World News:
With gold breaking $1,700 and silver nearing the $33 level, today King World News spoke with acclaimed trader Dan Norcini to get his take on where we are in the gold and silver markets after this latest move. Norcini was quick to lay out the position of the hedge funds in both of these markets as they are seen as a key driver.
Here is what the acclaimed [...]
The Labor Department paid out hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal stimulus funds to a public relations firm to run more than 100 commercials touting the Obama administration’s “green training” job efforts on two MSNBC cable shows, records show.
The commercials ran on MSNBC on shows hosted by Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann in 2009, but the contract didn’t report any jobs created, according to records reviewed recently by The [...]
SILVER COT REPORT 6/29/12
Commercials picked up 1,144 longs but covered a massive -3,799 shorts to end the week with 43.27% of all open interest, a mammoth change since last week, and now stand as a group at -60,055,000 ounces net short, almost 25,000,000 less net short ounces from the previous week.
Technically, this is one for the history books.
Very few weeks have ever seen these huge percentage point changes!
Last week, these same commercials had 45.65% [...]
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Built into the iPhone 4S, the digital assistant known as Siri has plenty of celebrity friends showing her off. But not everyone likes Siri. In fact, some have accused Siri as being “not as advertised” and filed a lawsuit against her creator, Apple.
Judging by the commercials, Apple’s iPhone Speech Interpretation and Recognition Interface (Siri) is meant to be taken seriously. Oscar-nominated actor John Malkovich is in one commercial, [...]

Especially at times of price pressure like now, it can be reassuring to know how the game is being played. I’m not speaking of the day to day price movements, but of the dominant forces that generally cause both short term and long term price movements. The price of world silver and gold is mostly set on the COMEX. Over the longer term, of course, [...]
In a world of ever-expanding surveillance, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to escape the clutches of security cameras.
But one designer has issued advice on how to keep yourself hidden from the ‘Big Brother’ organisations which now film many public areas and police internet.
And he insists it is possible to keep away from prying eyes while remaining stylishly dressed.
A number of surveillance programmes now rely on being able to recognise [...]

From Peter L. Brandt:
Big slugs of volume after an advance are nearly always a sign of a top.
Big volume that comes into a market after a run-up in price means two things:
1. Speculators who were on the sidelines for most of the advance finally threw in the towel and chased the market — believing the advance would be infinite.
2. Speculators who actually had positions during the run-up, as well as commercials [...]

With many global investors still concerned about the price of gold and silver, today King World News interviewed the “London Trader” to get his take on these markets. Here is what the source had to say: “Yesterday when we dropped through $1,700, you would not believe the amount of physical tonnage orders that filled. US centric traders tend to concentrate on the COMEX, but the real market is made in London.”

Mitt Romney is getting some heavy air support in Michigan — the state where he was born and raised — as the “super PAC” supporting him invests almost $500,000 on television ads there.
According to someone who tracks Republican media spending, Restore Our Future has committed just over $470,000 for commercials starting Tuesday and set to run through Feb. 20. That marks the group’s largest purchase yet in Michigan, where it [...]

January Effect in progress in $EURUSD — target remains 1.0800
I have posted extensively about the January Effect in the forex markets in recent weeks. See recent posts
January 8 - explanation of January Effect
January 26 – update on January Effect
January 30 - discussion of the CFTC COT data in EURUSD futures
The January 30 post was written by guest editor, Steve Briese, probably the preeminent expert on COT data. There has been much discussion lately on the [...]
Over the past week silver has behaved as predicted in the last update, breaking down from its potential Pennant pattern and dropping gently back towards support in the $29 – $30 area, to enter our “accumulation zone” shown on its 4-month chart which turned it higher on Friday, and while the pattern could still be a bear Pennant with an amended lower boundary this is looking considerably less likely – [...]
These days, a lot is going on in the world. All those events have a big impact on the price of Stocks, commodities, bonds,… Let’s have a look at the major trends in Gold, Silver and Mining stocks.
GLD touched the 150MA yesterday. In the past, this level often acted as support as we can see in the chart below:

GLD also tested the breakout above the green [...]
When Paula Deen met Michelle Obama, it wasn’t exactly the queen of butter versus the first lady of garden greens. Deen, known for her delicious not-so-good-for-you recipes like Gooey Butter Cake, said the two women had more in common than you might expect.
“Well, I did a show with Michelle and I just loved being with her,” Deen told Yeas & Nays. [...]

With gold hovering near the $1,800 level, a trader out of London told King World News today, “China is trading gold at a $17 premium today vs Comex futures. Silver is trading at a premium of $2.48 vs futures price (COMEX). What this tells you is that these people in China are willing to pay the equivalent of roughly $12,500 more per contract than what silver is being traded [...]
Combined COMEX commercial traders and Swap Dealer net buying in part responsible for $37 silver support.
HOUSTON – The CFTC commitments of traders (COT) report for last week showed that commercial traders covered or offset a considerable amount of their net short positioning in gold futures as we reported in these pages yesterday. The report also showed a similarly large ‘get-out’ by the commercial traders in [...]
Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert’s Super PAC had a setback Monday when the its treasurer, Salvatore Purpura jumped ship – to Rick Perry’s campaign.
Funnyman Colbert’s Super PAC had run ads in Iowa urging people to write in Rick Parry, with an A, leading up to the Iowa Straw Poll.
But those commercials turned out to be a bit of a conflict for Purpura, after Perry filed paperwork [...]

Silver held up surprisingly well during the stockmarket collapse – you will recall that we had expected it to take more of a beating – no doubt assisted by gold’s sparkling performance, so that now, having held above strong support, and with a marked improvement in its COT structure over the past week, it is believed to be poised for a really [...]

And probably more important, now that speculative fervor is all the talk, the silver net long positioning by non-commercials, contrary to conventional wisdom, is not only at an all time high, nor was it recently, but instead in the last week plunged to a level last seen back in April 2009. Net silver exposure has dropped by almost 60% since its recent peak [...]

The rough rice non-commercial speculators refuse to give up over what is now a blatant attempt by the commercials to suppress the price of rice. One day we hope to get Wikileaks or someone else to disclose just how much pressure China put on JP Morgan to keep Rice at ridiculously low levels in light of the action in other commodities.

No, your eyes were not mistaking you: That really was political guru James Carville hawking Miracle Whip in a television commercial.
The spot — part of the company’s “We’re Not For Everyone” campaign — features Carville and others expressing either their love or hate for the spread. The commercials debuted this week.
Amy Sedaris is a fan. “Jersey Shore†star Pauly D is not. As for [...]

One of our predictions for 2011 was that gold was in a bubble. After stirring the peak oil pot here on Seeking Alpha, I’m not sure I want to kick another hornet’s next.
But, whatever: gold is in a bubble right now.
I can hear all you gold bulls getting ready to fire off an angry e-mail right now, but hold on a second before you do.

The net exposure of the Large Specs changed very little and they remain Net Short.
The Commercials also had little change and are still Net Short, but remember, the Commercials typically move inversely to the market. When you want to watch out is when the Commercials go net long.
The Small Investors increased their long exposure by a sizable amount and are still net long.
If there is anything [...]

The Large Specs increased their long exposure considerably and are now net long once again.
The Commercials decreased their long exposure slightly, but this move more or less confirms the Buy signal since the Commercials move inversely to the market.
The Small Investors (Dumb moneyor so the theory goes) also confirmed the Buy Signal generated by the Large Specs (Smart money) by decreasing their long exposure considerably. [...]

The weekly COT update….and the survey Says….NO TRADE SIGNALS.
The large specs and the small investors both increased their long exposure last week while the commercials decreased their long exposure slightly.
It should be noted that the Large specs went net LONG last week, which I think I failed to mention in last weeks report. Although the net long position is not that great, I think it’s important because that is [...]
by Vics
The Large Specs decreased their long exposure a bit while the Commercials increased their long exposure slightly and the Small Investors increased their long exposure slightly. The magnitude of the moves were not large enough to generate a trade signal, but the direction of the moves made by each group are consistent with moves made by each group when the market drops (large specs being the smart money….small guys [...]

Things have changed. Price wise they changed when silver broke $20.92, and as gold made its September run. This systematic change is picking up speed, though generating growth since the crash of ’08, and never looking back.
Remember, life is a brilliant source of intelligence, and people of many types have begun to get the drift. One of my favorite examples of this [...]
LMAO!
The COT system has been quiet for the past few weeks but this week…..the survey says……………SELL!
The COT system generated a “SELL” signal this week. The large specs DECREASED their long exposure in a big way and are currently net short. The small guys also decreased their long exposure a bit, but the shift was nowhere near as large as the decrease from the large specs.
The commercials increased their long exposure [...]
