Benghazi, Department of “Justice” Fast & Furious gun running, Justice Department tapping AP Journalist’s phones, IRS targeting Patriot groups and Constitutionalists – the crimes of our literally CRIMINAL government are now obvious to all. So now’s the time the collective outrage of the American people will finally allow us to do something about it, and take our country back, right? No so fast, [...]

This Week’s Wrap-Up series of stories I call “Scandal-topia.” Benghazi, IRS targeting conservative groups, Department of Justice seizing phone records of the Associated Press (AP) and yet another sex abuse scandal in the U.S. military. While all of these stories are important, they are taking our eyes off other stories of great importance.
Let’s run down the list:
Benghazi, the White House is releasing some emails, but Republicans want many [...]
From Washington’s Blog:
California Congressman Devin Nunes (R-CA) says that the Department Of Justice tapped phones in the rooms where Congress members speak informally and off the record, eat, sleep and socialize when they’re not on the floor of the House of Representatives or in their individual offices.
These rooms are known as “cloak rooms,” which are the spaces in which a lot of informal conversations occur… both between Congress members, and [...]

HH: The idea that this might be a Geithner-Axelrod plan, and by that, the sort of intimation, Henry II style, will no one rid me of this turbulent priest, will no one rid me of these turbulent Tea Parties, that might have just been a hint, a shift of an eyebrow, a change in the tone [...]
During an appearance before the House Judiciary Committee today, Department of Justice (DOJ) Attorney General Eric Holder said that he’s “95 to 99 percent” certain the Deputy Attorney General was the person who authorized a subpoena of AP phone records.
When asked if Deputy Attorney General James Cole issued the subpoena, Holder said he “had to assume he did.” Later Holder states, “What I’m saying is I can’t say as a [...]

The White House claims to have had no idea that the Department of Justice seized the Associated Press’ phone records in what the news organization’s top executives called a “massive and unprecedented intrusion.”
“Other than press reports, we have no knowledge of any attempt by the Justice Department to seek phone records of the AP,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters in New York Monday [...]

President Barack Obama told the Mexican people today that the United States is partly to blame for Mexico’s drug violence because of illegal drugs and gun smuggling. However, he did not mention the gun smuggling undertaken by his own administration under the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Operation Fast and Furious.
Speaking to Mexican university students, Obama pointed a finger at his own country, as Reuters reported:

Former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds has been deemed credible by the Department of Justice’s Inspector General, several senators (free subscription required), and a coalition of prominent conservative and liberal groups.
The ACLU described Edmonds as:
The most gagged person in the history of the United States of America.
And famed Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg says that Edmonds possesses information “far more explosive than the Pentagon Papers”.
Edmonds translated terror-related communications for the FBI right after 9/11. In that [...]
WASHINGTON — The National Rifle Association is using a Justice Department memo it obtained to argue in ads that the Obama administration believes its gun control plans won’t work unless the government seizes firearms and requires national gun registration — ideas the White House has not proposed and does not support.
The NRA’s assertion and its obtaining of the memo in the first place underscore the no-holds-barred battle under way as Washington’s fight over gun restrictions heats up.

Paul Kevin Curtis, a sometime-Elvis impersonator who appeared in a Mississippi federal court Thursday and denied wrongdoing, has penned numerous rants accusing the government of hounding him. Many of his screeds have [...]

The California Senate approved a $24-million expenditure on Thursday to speed the confiscation of guns from people who have been disqualified from owning firearms because of criminal convictions or serious mental illness.
Sen. Mark Leno (D-San Francisco) said budget cuts to the Department of Justice have hampered a program that targets people who purchased firearms legally but were later disqualified because of a subsequent conviction or determination [...]

There’s an age-old tradition in Washington of making unpopular announcements when no one’s listening—like, you know, the days leading up to Thanksgiving. That’s when the Obama administration sneaked a tasty dish to the genetically modified seed/pesticide industry.
This treat involves the unceremonious end of the Department of Justice’s antitrust investigation into possible anticompetitive practices in the US seed market, which it had begun in January 2010. It’s not hard to see why DOJ [...]

In Meridian, Miss., it is school officials – not police – who determine who should be arrested. Schools seeking to discipline students call the police, and police policy is to arrest all children referred to the agency, according to a Department of Justice lawsuit. The result is a perverse system that funnels children as young as ten who merely misbehave in class into juvenile detention centers without basic constitutional procedures.

Kim Dotcom claims entrapment by US authorities
Megaupload actively co-operated with US authorities on several piracy cases, one of which concerned an outfit named NinjaVideo that used megaupload to store some its files.
Megaupload was asked by the US Department of Justice (DoJ) to preserve those files, to assist the ongoing investigation.
Later, the same files were listed among those said to be examples of megaupload hosting pirated files.
