A bipartisan group of Wisconsin lawmakers is scheduled to unveil legislation that would ban the use of drones in Wisconsin.
Rep. Tyler August is a Republican from Lake Geneva. His proposal would prohibit a law enforcement agency or any individual from using a drone equipped with video or audio equipment, or one that uses a weapon.
Designated as the Hemaseh in Farsi, meaning ‘epic’ in English, Iran’s latest reconnaissance-combat drone was unveiled on Thursday during a ceremony attended by Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi.
Brightly painted in the colors of Iran’s national flag and sporting what looked to be two dummy missiles under its wings, the domestically built drone is said to possess stealth capabilities that would allow it to evade enemy radar.
“This drone has been built by [...]
The Peshawar High Court on Thursday described the American drone strikes in the country’s restive tribal regions as illegal and inhuman and instructed the Foreign Ministry to move a resolution in the United Nations against the attacks.
The court issued the landmark verdict against the American strikes on four writ petitions, who had stated that these attacks kill civilians and also cause collateral damage.
American officials claim that the CIA-run drone mission [...]
Bartiromo Vs Schiff: The (Soft) Money-Honey Against The Golden Boy
Perfectly summarizing the cognitive dissonance of the mainstream media (and their drone-like viewers), this duel of the Soft-Money-Honey Maria B and Hard-Money Golden Boy Peter Schiff was a tragic farce. Maria comes out swinging, “whether this is a manufactured market or not, you’ve got no alternative but stocks – where’s my yield?” Schiff counters, “there are alternatives” – summarily scoffed at (a-la his-housing [...]
The lawyer who first drew up White House policy on lethal drone strikes has accused the Obama administration of overusing them because of its reluctance to capture prisoners that would otherwise have to be sent toGuantánamo Bay.
John Bellinger, who was responsible for drafting the legal framework for targeted drone killings while working for George W Bush after 9/11, said he believed their use had increased since because President Obama was unwilling to [...]
(CNN) – A new Florida law restricts police use of drones within the state’s borders.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed the measure Thursday, saying it will protect the state’s residents from “unwarranted surveillance.”
Before local or state law enforcement agencies can use surveillance drones, the Freedom from Unwarranted Surveillance Act requires a judge to approve in nearly all cases.
The legislation makes exceptions in cases involving “imminent danger to life or serious damage to [...]

Now, a phalanx of Ron Paul and libertarian forums are revolting at the senator’s perceived reversal.
“I am stunned by Rand’s statement,” reads a blog post on the Daily Paul, one of the largest Ron Paul fan sites. “Unmanned killers in our skys O.K.??? Really? Get away from the Neocons and war mongers Rand, their arrogant and self-righteous air is rotting your brain.”
“How cute. The Politician emerges,” wrote Paladin69, a user on RonPaulForums.com.

The bill opens the door for any person whose privacy is violated by a drone to take civil action and [...]
From Liberty Blitzkrieg:
McClatchy has released a very important study that demonstrates that not only is the Obama administration being intentionally secretive about their entire drone program, but in reality, it has no idea who it is killing or how many.
In many cases, those killed are just classified as an “unknown extremist,” aka a civilian.
We already know how insane the drone program is from many sources, including the confessions of drone [...]

A trove of leaked classified reports has confirmed what many had suspected – US drone kills in Pakistan are not the precision strikes against top-level al-Qaeda terrorists they are portrayed as by the Obama administration.
Instead, many of the attacks are aimed at suspected low-level tribal militants, who may pose no direct danger to the United States – and for many there appears to be little evidence to justify [...]

Even Democratic Party Loyalists Starting to Wake Up to the Fact that Obama Is As Bad As Bush … Or Worse
Glenn Greenwald notes that even Democratic party loyalists are getting fed up with Obama’s Bush-like actions:
Even the most loyal establishment Democrats are now harshly denouncing the president for his war on transparency ….
This secrecy has become so oppressive and extreme that even the most faithful Democratic operatives are now angrily exploding [...]

China is building one of the world’s largest drone fleets aimed at expanding its military reach in the Pacific and swarming U.S. Navy carriers in the unlikely event of a war, according to a new report.
The Chinese military — known as the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) — envisions its drone swarms scouting out battlefields, guiding missile strikes and overwhelming opponents through sheer numbers. China’s military-industrial complex has [...]
The impact of drones on privacy and national security remain matters of intense debate, but the economic impact, however, is becoming clearer by the day.
Private-sector drones will create more than 70,000 jobs within three years and will pump $82 billion into the U.S. economy by 2025, according to a major new study commissioned by the industry’s leading trade group, the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI). The study assumes that drones [...]
On the same day that Kentucky Senator Rand Paul was filibustering the nomination of John Brennan to head the CIA over the nominee’s involvement in lethal drone strikes, Attorney General Eric Holder defended arbitrary power before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) is leading a small group of House Democrats in calling on President Barack Obama to release information regarding the Administration’s use of drone strikes.
In a letter sent Monday, Lee said a leaked Department of Justice memo showed an “increasing devolution of accountability, transparency, and Constitutional protections in U.S. counterterrorism operations.” The 16-page memo provided an outline of the Obama’s administration legal justification of targeted drone strikes against U.S. citizens.

Quietly and without much notice, the Air Force has reversed its policy of publishing statistics on drone strikes in Afghanistan as the debate about drone warfare hits a fever pitch in Washington. In addition, it has erased previously published drone strike statistics from its website.
Since October, the Air Force had been providing monthly updates on drone strikes — or in its words “weapons releases from remotely [...]
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) blasted fellow GOP Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Thursday, saying the two “think the whole world is a battlefield.”
Paul criticized the hawkish senators for thinking the laws of war should take precedence over the Bill of Rights. The two had criticized Paul’s statements about drone policy during the Kentucky Republican’s nearly 13-hour filibuster on Thursday.
“They think the whole world is a battlefield, [...]
Aaron Dykes and Paul Joseph Watson discuss Rand Paul’s historic filibuster in protest of drone strikes on American citizens (on U.S. soil) with no due process, mainstream media’s attempted cover up of the massive DHS ammo buy and the latest Syrian crisis in which U.S. funded rebels have captured 21 U.N. peacekeepers. Alex Jones also give a special report on the state of the union and what americans need to [...]

“I rise today to begin to filibuster John Brennan’s nomination for the CIA I will speak until I can no longer speak. I will speak as long as it takes, until the alarm is sounded from coast to coast that our Constitution is important, that your rights to trial by jury are precious, that no American should be killed by a drone on American soil without first being [...]

Front and center in this pattern of evidence is the 16-page memo that was just released by Obama’s lawyers in the Department of Justice. This memo puts forth [...]
When Congress authorized the deployment of some 30,000 drones over U.S. skies with the passage of the FAA Air Transportation Modernization and Safety Improvement Act in 2012, many civil liberties groups, privacy advocates, and Americans expressed their concerns about the possibility that these surveillance tools could be used within the borders of the United States… Much like they are on the battlefields of the middle east, where scores of [...]
