WARNING: 56% of the Area in the Contiguous 48 U.S. States, 2/3 of the Population Is In Some Stage of Drought – Worst Since Jan 2000; Russian Wheat Price At Historic Highs; Food Prices Are Starting To Rise In Our Grocery Stores.

The latest weekly U.S. Drought Monitor report, released Thursday morning (today), shows drought encompassing more of the contiguous U.S. than at any other time since the report’s debut in January 2000.

U.S. Drought Grows, Worsens

Extreme rainfall from Tropical Storm Debby virtually wiped out long-standing drought across Florida, but continued dry weather across the rest of the contiguous U.S. led to the most widespread area of abnormal dryness in the 12-year history of the U.S. Drought Monitor report.
