BY MARK STRICHERZ TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2012

An investigation by The Daily reveals that federal government agencies bought 1,002 ergonomic chairs from 2005 to 2011. All but 194 of them were Aerons.
Uncle Sam spent at least $497,494 on the chairs during that period, at an [...]

The Department of Justice is asserting that the governor of Texas, as well as state legislators, have no executive or deliberative process privilege to shield documents — even as Eric Holder and President Obama assert executive and deliberative process privilege to shield documents from Congress in its investigation of Fast & Furious. That refusal has already resulted in Holder being held in contempt by the House of Representatives in a [...]
Private equity tycoon Steve Schwarzman said this morning on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” that if we keep racking up our deficit “something terrible” will happen.
“If you keep doing this something terrible will happen to the United States. Something terrible will happen to us,” Schwarzman said.
The billionaire private equity exec added that he thinks the U.S. can solve its problems.
One solution he proposed is that the U.S. will probably need some type of tax reform to deal [...]
COVINGTON, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) — A former high-ranking CNN executive is accused of leaving dog feces in his neighbor’s mailbox.
Covington police say the victims of the incident, Benjamin Dameron and Ralph Miller, have video of Bob Furnad walking with his dog up to the mailbox and placing a bag filled with the feces in their mailbox.

Google display ad boss Jason Bigler is not surprised that General Motors, the nation’s third-biggest advertiser, has cut its $10 million Facebook ad budget to zero because Facebook advertising “doesn’t work.”
Yesterday, he tweeted: ”Seriously folks, did you really expect consumers to be in transactional mindsets on Facebook?”
Thing is, Jason is right.
Facebook is no Google, and there is one plain reason why: Google has the perfect online advertising product and Facebook doesn’t know what its online advertising [...]
There’s a new development in the case of Twentieth Century Foxveteran film distribution executive Gavin Smith who is still missing. I’ve now learned that the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department has officially changed the status of the case from a missing person’s probe to a criminal homicide investigation. My news follows by a day media reports that the search for Smith had intensified and the sheriff’s department has added new resources including more detectives to the probe.

One of the heads of Jason Russell‘s Invisible Children organization made a video after the charity won a $1 million grant … in which he appears to be drunk and joking about keeping $900,000 for himself.
TMZ has obtained the clip … featuring Jedidiah Jenkins, the Director of Ideology for the charity dedicated to hunting down African warlord Joseph Kony.
The footage appears to be shot in 2010 … right after Invisible Children won the $1 million grand [...]

Theories:
“1) Rats leaving a sinking ship: Either a big economic collapse is about to happen and they are leaving before it does, or a false-flag is coming our way.
2) The “good guys” are finally scaring the “bad guys” away: these resignations have been predicted by many geo-political analysts such as Benjamin Fulford, LaRouche, David Wilcock, and others.
3) Nothing to see here, move along: I can’t believe this theory anymore”

“Clearly, demand for the iPad 2 was much greater than Apple expected,” said Marshall, talking about the continued [...]

Open Culture‘s brief commentary is most appropriate:
Hopefully watching or buying this film won’t be a pointless act, even though it can rightly feel that way. As Charles Ferguson reminded us during his Oscar acceptance speech, we are three years beyond the Wall Street crisis and taxpayers (you) got fleeced for billions. But still not one Wall Street exec is facing criminal charges. Welcome to your [...]
