Money manager Peter Schiff says, “Cyprus is a wake-up call for everybody who has a bank deposit. . . . When you are depositor, you are in fact . . . lending your money to the bank.” Schiff predicts, “There’s no question . . . banks will fail. The question is will government do the right thing and allow depositors to lose money. Or, do the wrong thing and bailout depositors by printing [...]

When the dreaded sequester took effect on March 1st, the only immediate economic pain federal workers suffered was canceling White House tours eliminated Secret Service over-time. But over the last two weeks, the dirty little secrets about expected higher taxing and higher spending are pouring out of Washington D.C. As the Congress finishes work on the stop-gap budget to avoid a March 27th shut down and fund the government [...]

Operators of small businesses are going to be cutting full time employees throughout 2013 to under 50, to stay under the Obamacare tax.
Here’s the thinking of one small business owner:
Here is what I am doing for the rest of the year — working with every manager in my company so that as of January 1, 2013, none of our employees are working more than 28 hours a week. I think [...]
GAS DOOM: DIESEL OFFICIALLY HIT $6.00 in California… Watch nation come to screeching halt!
Diesel SHOULD be cheaper. It is less refined than Gasoline.
You can take crude oil… heat it and Diesel will “come out” of the sludge all on it’s own. Watch the truckers who keep this nation in motion stop dead in their tracks.
I know supply and demand… but no deliveries will make fuel even more expensive.
No word yet… from any [...]

You can tell a lot about a nation by the condition of the infrastructure. So what does our infrastructure say about us? It says that we are in a very advanced state of decay. At this point, much of America is being held together with spit, duct tape and prayers. Our roads are crumbling and thousands of our bridges look like they could collapse at any moment. Our power [...]

Ready or not, QE3 is here, and the long-term effects of this reckless money printing by the Federal Reserve are going to be absolutely nightmarish. The Federal Reserve is hoping that buying $40 billion worth of mortgage-backed securities per month will spur more lending and more economic activity. But that didn’t happen with either QE1 or QE2. Both times the banks just sat on most of the extra money. [...]

How in the world is someone supposed to actually prepare for an economic collapse? What should you do with your money? How can you make sure that your family is going to be okay? How can you prepare if your resources are extremely limited? These are the kinds of questions people ask me all the time. Once people understand that the economy has been collapsing and will continue to collapse, then [...]
From MoneyCrashers:
As gas prices remain high, improving your car’s mileage is crucial.
By stretching a tank of gas further, you can reduce the amount of times you must fill up per month, which can help you stick to your budget. This is especially important for those who purchased non-efficient cars when gas was cheaper.
But regardless of what car you drive, you can always use a little extra money at the end [...]
This is commentary from political blogger and cartoonist Rob Tornoe.
Over the weekend, Gov. Chris Christie once again force-fed a conservative crowd a healthy dose of red meat, saying President Obama was “posing and preening” instead of working to resolve the pressing issues facing the country.
It struck me as odd he would use that particular attack line, considering Christie has traveled across the country to put himself in the spotlight as [...]
The more likely scenario if Greece defaults is that Germany will finally accept the introduction Eurobunds, and Europe will be fine for a couple of years.
If not …
- There is nothing that force Greece to leave the Euro. It’s simply not in the treaty laws.
- There is nothing that can stop Greece from simply printing billions of its official currency … THE EURO !
The money circulation is not controlled by [...]

Drivers spending extra money on record fuel prices they didn’t expect
Motorists are paying hundreds of pounds more than they might expect to fill up their cars because fuel economy figures are overstated, a report claims.
And it is some of the cars that trade most on their ‘green’ and fuel-efficient eco credentials where the gaps between the official figures and reality are greatest, [...]
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The federal government has warned Wisconsin officials the state’s unemployment rate has improved enough to end extended jobless benefits.
Wisconsin’s unemployment rate had been high enough to qualify jobless people in the state for 13 extra weeks of federal unemployment benefits. But the state’s three-month average improved to 7 percent in February, making the state ineligible for the extra money.

Business Secretary Vince Cable says replacing the 50p tax rate with some form of wealth tax is among a “complex set of negotiations” within the coalition ahead of the Budget.
The Lib Dems were not “ideologically wedded to the 50p tax rate”, he said.
But he added that if it were to go, it “should be replaced by taxation of wealth”.
Business organisations and many Tory MPs want the 50p tax on earnings [...]

Some lessons are best learned the hard way, as many parents know. But when it comes to Uncle Sam, you’re better off getting things right the first time.
Messing up on taxes is common. In the best case, it may just mean a delayed refund.
But it can also mean a smaller refund, spending extra money and time to amend your return, or (in the worst case) facing an audit.
Tax software [...]

The White House intends to boost government subsidies for wealthy buyers of the Chevy Volt and other new-technology vehicles — to $10,000 per buyer.
