Our hearts go out to the families of those slain in the senseless shooting this morning at Sandyhook Elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut.
At least 27 people, including 18 children, have been killed. Reports indicate that most of the children were of kindergarten age. They never stood a chance once a gunman entered their classrooms and indiscriminately opened fire.

 NEWTOWN, Conn. (CBSNewYork) – Twenty-seven people are dead, including at least 18 children, after a gunman opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CBS News reported.
Officials say the gunman, who apparently had two guns, was also killed. At least three people were injured — two children and an adult. All three were taken to Danbury Hospital. Their conditions are not known.

The newest version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) includes an amendment that would legalize the use of propaganda on the American public, reports Michael Hastings of BuzzFeed.
The amendment — proposed by Mac Thornberry (R-Texas) and Adam Smith (D-Wash.) and passed in the House last Fridayafternoon — would effectively nullify the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948, which explicitly forbids information and psychological operations aimed at influencing U.S. public opinion.
