The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has routinely charged conservative and watchdog groups fees that the agency has waived for the mainstream media and “green” groups, according to a new report.
According to the Washington Examiner, a Conservative Enterprise Institute review found that while “government agencies are supposed to waive fees for groups disseminating information for public benefit,” the EPA denied such requests from the Conservative Enterprise Institute in addition to other groups like [...]

There is a CISPA vote in Congress tomorrow. We need to bring some attention to this before they pass it right under our noses!
Take action here and here
CISPA Amendment Proves Everyone’s Fears Were Justified While Failing To Assuage Them
from the the-more-things-change dept
The single biggest criticism of CISPA is that it could be used by the federal government in a way that infringes on people’s privacy, allowing government agencies, including the NSA, to sift through the private [...]
Your iPhone could be spying on you, according to the latest trove of documents from Wikileaks, which looks like it could be the biggest scandal yet.
Called the Spyfiles, it’s a trove of documents about the “mass interception industry” — the massive post-9/11 surveillance community that electronically snoops on entire populations.
The industry is selling software to government agencies — some of it delivered by Trojans — that can take over your [...]
Awr Hawkins, a columnist for Breitbart.com, asked back in February if the present shortages of ammunition are a deliberate attempt by government agencies to so overwhelm existing manufacturers with orders for billions of rounds that it is resulting in “de facto” gun control. Hawkins asked: “What if the shortage is intentional?”
On Wednesday he raised the same question:
While many of the conspiracy theories that have been propounded to explain DHS [Department [...]
The sequester cuts are now officially in place, but many government agencies appear to be hiring freely anyway.
The U.S. Forest Service on Monday posted help-wanted ads for a few good men and women to work as “recreation aides” this summer, the Internal Revenue Service advertised for an office secretary in Maryland, the U.S. Mint wanted 24 people to help press coins, and the Agriculture Department said it needs three “insect production workers” to help grow bollworms [...]
If we can’t even cut federal spending by 2.4 percent without much of the country throwing an absolute hissy fit, then what hope does America have? All of this whining and crying about the sequester is absolutely disgraceful. The truth is that even if the sequester goes into effect, the U.S. government will still take in more money than ever before in 2013 and it will still spend more [...]

The total number of users about whom government agencies wanted information also set a record at 31,072, up from 23,300 in 2011, the first year Google began reporting the data. The [...]
Deficit President chickens out at the last minute. $20 trillion here we come.
Story just hit the wires.
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) – President Barack Obama will ask Congress Tuesday to craft a small package of short-term spending cuts and tax revenue to put off the automatic across-the-board cuts, known as the sequester, that are scheduled to kick in March 1, according to press reports. Members of the Anonymous-affiliated Team GhostShell hacking collective have published what they claim is stolen information for 1.6 million accounts linked to government agencies, including the Pentagon, NASA and the Federal Reserve.

President Barack Obama signaled if he wins a second term he would appoint a Secretary of Business to oversee newly-consolidated government agencies, including the Small Business Administration, and predicted “a war” will break out within the Republican Party after the Nov. 6 election.
“We should have one Secretary of Business, instead of nine different departments that are dealing with things like giving loans to SBA or helping companies with exports,” Mr. [...]
Will he finally cave, or will the continuous stream of lies to his followers be enough to carry him to a second term?
Washington (CNN) – Two hours after first being notified of an attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, a government e-mail to the White House, the State Department and the FBI said an Islamist group had claimed credit, according to a copy obtained by CNN.
An initial e-mail [...]

With a massive biometric FBI surveillance system going live across the United States in recent weeks, tens of thousands of drones to be flying over American skies within just a few years, over 1 billion rounds of ammunition being acquired by non-military government agencies, and a host of laws and executive orders outlining military and police emergency response plans to lock down the United States, it isn’t much of [...]
Only half of the previously foreclosed homes owned by Fannie Maeare either on the market or being prepared for sale. The remaining properties are currently locked away in some step of the foreclosure system.
The National Association of Realtors said in its existing home sales report Wednesday that its officials were pressuring government agencies to release more of their REO in markets short of inventory.
Many market participants long claimed the government – including Fannie, Freddie Mac and the Department [...]
Insisting that the General Services Administration’s bureaucrats-gone-wild party in Las Vegas may be the “tip of the iceberg,” Rep. John Mica tells Newsmax.TV that wasteful practices by the agency could top billions when all is said and done.
“It has to be the poster child for bad management,” declared Mica in an exclusive interview after emerging from Wednesday’s hearing on the embattled agency by the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, [...]
It was supposed to be win-win. The government agency got a slightly lower rate, while the investment bank earned fees. If the variable bond’s rate rose above the fixed rate target – the scenario that government finance officials feared most – the swap counterparty (the banks often off-loaded the instruments to speculators) paid off the government agency. If the variable bond rate went down, the swap payments moved in the [...]

WASHINGTON — Accusations by Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., that an Islamist group has infiltrated the U.S. government are drawing fierce criticism from fellow lawmakers and religious groups.
Bachmann and four other GOP legislators have sent letters to five government agencies citing “serious security concerns” about what Bachmann has called a “deep penetration in the halls of our United States government” by the Muslim [...]

The number of U.S. citizens and green card holders on the FBI’s terror watch list has more than doubled since Christmas 2009, when the attempted bombing of an airliner over Detroit exposed flaws in the list and gaps in how government agencies used the information to screen potential security threats.
In a report released Friday, the Government Accountability Office said that watch list data collected from January 2009 [...]
Two Cambridge experts have discovered a “back door” in a computer chip used in military systems and aircraft such as the Boeing 787 that could allow the chip to be taken over via the internet.
The discovery will heighten concerns about the risks of cyber-attacks on sensitive installations, coming on the heels of the discovery this week of the ‘Flamer’ virus which has been attacking computer systems in Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia.
In a paper that [...]
