If you signed up for the American Express ”Blue Sky” credit card within the last 9 years, you could be cashing in a refund check by springtime.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has ordered the credit giant to pay out $85 million to 250,000 customers for deceptive practices it claims occurred “at every stage of the consumer experience.”
Unlike the massive, multi-lender mortgage settlement announced earlier this year, the AmEx refund process will be much simpler: All you [...]

From Thoughts From The Canyon:
“I want to cancel my Internet service.” Those seven magic words sent Heather, the Cox retention agent, into a robotic like state.
“Sir, you’ve been a loyal customer for 13 years, may I ask why you’re leaving us?” What I felt like saying was, “You’ve been jacking up my Internet fees at a ridiculous rate for six years, it’s time for a little payback.”
Instead, to get what [...]

Here’s an opinion piece by Chuck Green who writes “Greener Pastures” for the
Denver Post Aurora Sentinel…one of the more liberal papers in the country.
Additionally, Mr. Green is a lifelong Democrat…so this is rather a
stunning piece…
Obama is victim of Bush’s failed promises!
Barack Obama is setting a record-setting number of records during his first
term in office:
Largest budget ever. Largest deficit ever. Largest number of broken promises
ever.
Most self-serving speeches ever. Largest number of agenda-setting [...]
OK, here’s the situation. You are a productive member of a extremely large and growing corporation, that until the past few years, seemed to be doing reasonably well. Inspite of a couple of bumps along the way, there was a hostile takeover in late 2008, and a new CEO and Board of Directors were installed. After about two years, the Board showed itself to be [...]

Before leaving New York, I was enjoying a perfectly nice afternoon yesterday walking around the Upper West side. When I got to Lincoln center, roughly at the corner of Broadway and W 62nd Street, reality set in.
No fewer than ten NYPD storm troopers were ‘patrolling’ the sidewalk outside in full combat gear: Kevlar helmet, flak vest, semi-automatic 9mm sidearm, and Colt model [...]

244,000 jobs and 268,000 in the private sector is fine to say okay not sliding further into the hole but I mean sheesh! The only good thing is -24,000 government workers.
Does anyone else here think Hooters girls and bartenders represent an economic superpower? I have graduated from my Hooters days to greener pastures, but this is quite laughable. 46,000 L&H with Americas wages remaining flat! [...]
Howard Stern, who seems to be in a perpetual fight with his bosses, is at it again.
The production company for the radio personality is suing Sirius XM, claiming the satellite radio company has refused to pay stock awards it owes to him based on subscriber targets in Stern’s contract. The lawsuit also says Sirius owes money to Stern’s agent under a consulting agreement.
“World-renowned radio personality Howard [...]
