A Fox News poll released Wednesday finds that while 26 percent of voters say their health care situation will be better under the new law, twice as many — 53 percent — say it will be worse. [...]

The facts on Obamacare just got even worse, Obama snuck a little clause into page 1,869…

From The Burning Platform:

Remember when Pelosi said we had to pass the 2,700 page health care abortion of a bill in order to find out what was in it? Remember when Obama told us that families would save $2,500 per year if Obamacare was passed? Remember when Obama and Reid declared that Obamacare would add nothing to the National Debt?

Well now we know what is in it. It seems when [...]

Could eating too much junk food give you Alzheimer’s?

refreshingnews99.blogspot.in
October 30, 2012

Alzheimer’s is one of the major medical problems of our age.

A ghastly disease that condemns millions to years of confusion and fear, it also threatens to bankrupt our health system — yet doctors don’t really know what causes it, or how to treat it effectively.

But could that be about to change?

Scientists increasingly believe Alzheimer’s is linked to type 2 diabetes — so closely linked, in fact, it’s even [...]

Greek Unemployed Cut Off From Medical Treatment – Until recently, Greece had a typical European health system offering universal care, but the unemployed are now often left on their own if they get sick.

From NYT:

As the head of Greece’s largest oncology department, Dr. Kostas Syrigos thought he had seen everything. But nothing prepared him for Elena, an unemployed woman whose breast cancer had been diagnosed a year before she came to him.

By that time, her cancer had grown to the size of an orange and broken through the skin, leaving a wound that she was draining with paper napkins. “When we saw her we were speechless,” said Dr. [...]

Bruce Bartlett: The folly at the heart of the US healthcare debate

From FT:

The option of a completely government-run health system was never seriously considered in the US when the Affordable Care Act was debated in 2009. Americans are too convinced that everything government does is less efficient and costs more than if the private sector does it. The fact that this is obviously wrong in the case of healthcare has never penetrated the public consciousness.

The U.S. is the only major country where medical disasters can lead to personal bankruptcy, even for those who have medical insurance.

“…Today’s health insurance policies — with high deductibles, co-pays, and many exclusions — offer little protection during a serious illness. Uncovered medical bills averaged $13,460 for those with private insurance at the start of their illness. People with cancer had average medical debts of $35,878.

“The paradox is that the costliest health system in the world performs so poorly. We waste one-third of [...]

Ohio Voters Choose To Opt Out Of Health Mandate (Reject Obamacare)

Voters in Ohio have approved a ballot measure intended to keep government from requiring Ohioans to participate in any health care system.

Get ready for the next crisis: 10 Reasons To Short China Now

Some people argue that there are no bubbles (e.g. Shaun Rein via Bloomberg), and there are some very bearish calls (e.g. Jim Chanos via FT and Andy Xie).  Official statistics are completely unreliable, so I have to rely on other things.

There are a lot of variables in this health bill.

If you have a plan already and the deductible is less than $8000 for your family, it is a “gold” plan and you will be taxed at 40%, from my understanding. If your deductible is over $8000 than you shouldn’t have a tax on your plan at all. But there are other taxes that where put into the bill, that will generate money to go into the health care system.
