The EU is realizing that collapsing economies can’t pay what is owed.

European leaders are loosening the economic shackles once demanded by Germany as the recession and mounting unemployment in southern Europe shove aside the debt crisis as the euro area’s biggest headache.

A two-day Brussels summit starting today will endorse plans for “structural” assessments of national budgets, according to a draft statement, using code for granting countries such asFrance, Spain and Portugal extra time to bring down deficits.

The prestigious award, controversially given to the EU rather than an individual, has been collected by Herman Van Rompuy and Jose Manuel Barroso, the Union’s two “presidents” to the sound of trumpet fanfares and in the presence of the Norwegian Royal Family.

“Ich bin ein Europaer. Je suis fier d’etre europaen. I am proud to be European,” said Mr Van Rompuy, the president of the European Council, the regular [...]

EU Budget Talks Collapse, France Rejects Compromise

I have a bit of good news today. The efforts of Herman Van Rompuy, the European Council president, to mollify the UK and other budget hawks have created such a stir that France rejects EU budget compromise.

Jean-Marc Ayrault, the French prime minister, objected to deep cuts to agriculture spending included in the proposal, but also expressed displeasure with reductions in the development money, known as cohesion funds, that benefit poorer regions.

It makes perfect sense – the globalist European Union has received a “peace” award dreamed up by a guy who manufactured armaments and invented dynamite.

One-worlders and banksters were joyous.

“It is a great, touching moment for the EU to get the Nobel Peace Prize 2012 for the decades of working on peace, democracy and wealth on our continent,” gushed Werner Hoyer, President of the European Investment Bank.

The Real Agenda

Flashback: Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Union: “Homogenous Nation States are Dead”.

The collapse of the Euro and the European Union is not a result of the financial crisis created by the bankers. In fact, the crisis was created as a way to justify the banker acquisition of independent nation states in Europe, America, Africa and Asia, among others.

Germany cool to EU fiscal union plan: report

Germany on Tuesday offered a cool response to a roadmap released by European Union President Herman Van Rompuy and other European officials outlining a path to tighter fiscal integration and a banking union. As Soros Starts A Three Month Countdown To D(oom)-Day, Europe Plans A New Master Plan

What would the weekend be without at least one rumor that Europe is on the verge of fixing everything, or failing that, planning for a master fix, OR failing that, planning for a master plan to fix everything. Sure enough, we just got the latter, which considering nobody really believes anything out of Europe anymore, especially not something that has not been signed, stamped and approved by Merkel herself, is rather ballsy. Ironic EU Begging Expedition to China

Wolf Richter   www.testosteronepit.com

Europe returned from its begging expedition to Beijing empty-handed. Well, they called it a summit, but it was an unmitigated begging expedition, one more in a series. Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the EU Commission, and Herman Van Rompuy, President of EU Council, were talking to Premier Wen Jiabao, trying to lure China into plowing part of its hard-earned foreign exchange trillions into the European bailout fund, the EFSF. And they [...]

The great euro Putsch rolls on as two democracies fall

Europe’s scorched-earth policies have begun in earnest. The inherent flaws of monetary union have created a crisis of such gravity that EU leaders now feel authorized to topple two elected governments.

As I long feared, the flood of cheap credit into Southern Europe and the slow death of Club Med industry by currency asphyxiation have together created such a dangerous situation for world finance that informed opinion is willing to turn [...]
