Internal cost estimates from 17 of the nation’s largest insurance companies indicate that health insurance premiums will grow an average of 100 percent under Obamacare, and that some will soar more than 400 percent, crushing the administration’s goal of affordability.
New regulations, policies, taxes, fees and mandates are the reason for the unexpected “rate shock,” according to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which released a report Monday based on internal documents provided by the [...]
Monday, Regal Entertainment Group, the largest movie theatre chain in the country, announced that thousands of employees will have their work hours cut– as a direct result of the added cost of the new ObamaCare mandates that become effective later this year.
In a memo to employees, management was blunt: “To comply with the Affordable Care Act, Regal had to increase our health care budget to cover those newly deemed eligible [...]
So this goes with the 2 billion bullets?
DHS Purchases Now a total of 1.6 Billion Rounds of Ammunition. Signs of US Collapse
DHS Purchases 200 Million More Rounds of Ammunition Additional purchase includes bullets designated for snipers. Following controversy over its purchase of around 1.2billion bullets in the last six months alone, the Department of Homeland Security has put out a new solicitation for over 200 million more rounds of [...]
Standing as a bulwark of liberty, the Oklahoma House of Representatives passed a bill protecting citizens of the Sooner State from the unconstitutional provisions of ObamaCare.
By a vote of 72-20, the state House of Representatives passed House Bill 1021, a bill that if signed into law would stop the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (known as ObamaCare) at the borders of the sovereign state of Oklahoma.
The bill’s primary proponent is State Representative [...]

To all Americans in their twenties, thirties, forties, or even fifties, naively looking forward to their retirement, we have two words: “good luck.”
One look at the flow chart below and we can’t help but wonder: just how many Americans actually follow the “plan” of what they should do to prepare for retirement. A million? Two? Less? And how soon before the government decides it knows what’s best for [...]

It is the ultimate example of how you reap what you sow: Huge numbers of American workers who voted for Obama are now seeing their own jobs slashed below 30 hours a week as employers desperately try to avoid “Obamacare bankruptcy.”
Obamacare mandates for businesses only apply to those working 30 hours a week or more, and while many businesses do not want to cut workers’ hours, [...]
For the first time in its nearly 100-year history, Orlando Health is reducing its workforce by up to 400 positions starting immediately, hospital officials announced this morning.
The elimination of 300 to 400 jobs will occur in two phases, and represents a 2- to 3-percent decrease in the system’s 16,000 employees, said Orlando Health spokeswoman Kena Lewis. The reductions affect all departments and all eight of its hospitals, including Orlando Regional [...]

The Irish approved an amendment to their national constitution on Saturday that will bring it into compliance with mandates of the United Nations that govern the state’s seizure of children. The margin was 57 percent to 43 percent.
The Alliance of Parents against the State campaigned against passage of the referendum on the measure, which APS says will diminish the rights of parents and give the Irish government nearly unbridled [...]
Barack Obama won a second term but no mandate. Thanks in part to his own small-bore and brutish campaign, victory guarantees the president nothing more than the headache of building consensus in a gridlocked capital on behalf of a polarized public.
If the president begins his second term under any delusion that voters rubber-stamped his agenda on Tuesday night, he is doomed to fail.
Mandates are rarely won on election night. They [...]
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Two top Federal Reserve officials who opposed the latest round of Fed asset purchases have waded into tricky political waters by suggesting that lawmakers could tie the Fed’s hands if they wanted to block more asset purchases.
“A future Congress might restrict us to a single mandate – like other central banks in the world operate under – focused solely on price stability,” said Richard Fisher, the president [...]
Excerpts released by the Romney campaign from Paul Ryan’s address tonight to Republican convention in Tampa, Florida:
“I accept the calling of my generation to give our children the America that was given to us, with opportunity for the young and security for the old – and I know that we are ready. Our nominee is sure ready. His whole life has prepared him for this moment – to meet serious challenges [...]
Bill Gross of PIMCO spoke to Bloomberg Television’s Trish Regan this afternoon during a special edition of “Street Smart” live from the Bloomberg Link convention headquarters in Tampa, FL and said that he expects more quantitative easing from the Federal Reserve “relatively soon” and that “they have a dual mandate.”
Gross said “unemployment is still above 8% and it’s obvious that the Fed isn’t comfortable, nor is the nation or the [...]
DENVER — The Newland family didn’t spend 50 years building a business here for the plaudits, but when a Denver City Council member moved to recognize them with an anniversary proclamation, the clan was flattered.
So it came as a disappointment last week when the Newlands learned that the council decided to cancel the honor, especially when they found out the reason: Their successful legal challenge against the Obama health care reform’s birth control, sterilization [...]
From Economic Policy Journal:
Medical care is going to get worse under Obamacare. Robert S. Dotson, M.D. tells us why:
As income reductions are being imposed on private practice, costs are being driven up by exploding regulations. In addition, the plethora of new mandates and laws have increasingly criminalized every aspect of the practice of medicine and created vast new armies of armed bureaucrats whose sole aim is to impose civil and [...]

From The Reformed Broker:
Is it time for Germany to accept the fact that the only way out of economic hell is an export-led recovery, brought about by “dollar parity,” (a one-for-one exchange rate between dollar and euro) so that peripheral economies can become competitive again?
Is this the part where Germany gets over the fear of 3%-4% inflation (as opposed to the current 2%) because a bit of inflation is a [...]

Regardless of whether you agree with the fundamentals of Obamacare, the fact that the U.S. Supreme Court has now ruled the federal government has the power to tax Americans into mandatory purchases of private industry products means an end to economic freedom in America. Why? Because it hands the federal government the power to force the American people to buy anything the government wants or face tax penalties for refusing [...]
Here are the facts:
The Fed is failing to meet both of its mandates. Unemployment is still well above where it should be (according to the Fed’s own forecasts) and inflation is trending below its goal of 2%.
Bernanke says the Fed has more tools at its disposal that would help correct both of these shortfalls.
Yet at Wednesday’s meeting, the Fed did the bare minimum, an extension of Operation Twist (buying long bonds and selling [...]

Although Michelle Obama says she will not push for a federal ban on large sugary fructose corn syrup soft drinks, she applauds Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s decision to outlaw the beverages and bring the heavy boot of the law down on any business that sells them to New York’s subject-citizens.
“We applaud anyone who’s stepping up to think about what changes work in their communities. New York is one [...]
Team Obama calculates that its road to victory is paved with the votes of women, so the American people are now subject to a coordinated effort to cast GOP opposition to expanding government power as an assault on the weaker sex. But few women view public policy as a battle between the sexes. Women whose husbands, brothers and sons are struggling to find jobs find no comfort in women’s comparatively [...]
If the Supreme Court overturns the individual mandate based on the theory argued by Paul Clement, the attorney representing the 26 states that filed lawsuits against Obamacare, Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign could get a big boost from the ruling.
Clement told the court, just as Romney has told Republican primary voters, that states have the power to enact individual mandates wheras the federal government has no such authority.
“I do think the [...]
When a 1942 Supreme Court decision that most people never heard of makes the front page of the New York Times in 2012, you know something unusual is going on.
What makes that 1942 case — Wickard v. Filburn — important today is that it stretched the federal government’s power so far that the Obama administration is using it as an argument to claim before today’s Supreme Court it has the [...]
If Mitt Romney has gotten a bad rap for making some questionable statements about his wealth, then Rick Santorum has to be knocked for some questionable statements about women.
Throughout the course of the campaign, Santorum has been called into question for offering up some controversial opinions on women and women’s rights.
He has stood in opposition to contraception, abortions, prenatal care, and women in the military, just to name a few. And it’s [...]

Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley is threatening to ram through a sweeping new land use plan that imposes an environmentalist agenda on the state’s sprawling rural populations — a move that could spark a tax revolt and mass exodus unless it is rewritten, county officials and state legislators told The Daily Caller on Monday.
O’Malley has indicated that he intends to impose what some lawmakers are calling a draconian new environmentalist agenda, [...]

Fed Trapped By Inflation
There will be NO announcement of QE 3 tomorrow. Why? Because the Fed has trapped itself into a corner. The first two rounds of Quantitative Easing (QE1 and 2) were viable for the Fed as inflation was running at deflationary levels in 2009 and at the bottom of their target range of 1-3% in 2010.
In both instances the implementation of asset [...]
