Federal Reserve shocker: The “end of QE” rumor was true

From Zero Hedge:

[Thursday], the rumor turned out to be a joke. Today, there was no rumor, but as we warned, it was only a matter of time.

Less than four hours later, the time has come, and Jon Hilsenrath’s “Fed Maps Exit from Stimulus,” conveniently appearing after the close, has just been released.

From Hilsy… pointing out what everyone already knew:

Federal Reserve officials have mapped out a strategy for winding down an [...]

BREAKING NEWS!! The Fed Has Started Talking About Ending Its Economic Stimulus Program

Wall Street Journal reporter John Hilsenrath is so plugged in at the Federal Reserve that he has earned the nickname “Fed Wire.”

Whenever the Fed wants to start sending a new message to Wall Street, the story goes, they call up John Hilsenrath.

And then, thanks to Hilsenrath’s excellent articles, by the time the actual announcement comes out, it’s no big deal, because everyone already knows about it.

And now John Hilsenrath is reporting [...]

APPLE can now track you indoors

Still recovering from the backlash to its flawed Maps app, Apple is looking to beef up the iPhone’s indoor location capabilities by acquiring WiFiSlam. According to The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the deal, Apple paid $20 million to scoop up the two-year-old startup based in Silicon Valley.

As per usual for Apple, which made a splash when it bought Siri back in 2010, the company didn’t provide any details as to why [...]

Saint, Louis, Missouri. Bethlehem, PA. Florida. Louisiana. It seems pretty fucking obvious doesn’t it?

Cayce and the creator of the US Navy map were onto something. Whether it was psychic ability, or an uncanny knowledge of geology, we are on the cusp of a civilization changing event.

Wild swings this week: As temperatures rise, severe weather set to slam Midwest, South

The threat of severe thunderstorms is about to return as a strong cold front emerges from the Rockies and intercepts milder air returning to the nation’s midsection.

This pattern will be favorable for thunderstorms to produce damaging winds and possible tornadoesTuesday and Wednesday in parts of the South, lower Midwest, and eventually the Mid-Atlantic region.

The maps on this page show the latest timing forecast for these storms from The Weather Channel’s Global Forecast Center.

FLU App Shows City’s Most Infected Areas

Hell’s Kitchen is burning up — with the flu.

The neighborhood is the city’s most infected area — closely followed by the Upper West Side, Carroll Gardens and Elmhurst, Queens, according to a formula created by two upstate professors.

The complex, Twitter-based algorithm maps out areas of New York City that are hardest-hit with virus — and then color-codes the outbreaks in green, yellow and red.

The Germ Tracker Web app pinpoints key [...]

Ex-burglars say gun owner maps make break-ins easier, safer for criminals

Reformed crooks say the New York newspaper that published a map of names and addresses of gun owners did a great service – to their old cronies in the burglary trade.

The information published online by the Journal-News, a daily paper serving the New York suburbs of Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties, could be highly useful to thieves in two ways, former burglars told FoxNews.com. Crooks looking to avoid getting shot [...]

More of the weird stuff: High School Shaped like a Handgun!

Symbols, shapes, sygils, matter to them. Which is how they channel the dark energies. Why did they go and make a school look like a handgun? This is so in-your-face! Is another shooting incident planned here? By whom? Or is this some kind of a subliminal back-up assist that helps the gun control issue? Whether you are an American or no, this is very shocking. Would you send your child [...]

Apple Maps Glitch Could be Deadly, Australian Police Say

Madeleine Coorey
Phys.org
December 10, 2012

Australian police Monday warned motorists about using Apple Maps on the iPhone’s latest operating system after rescuing several people left stranded in the wilderness, saying the errors could prove deadly.

Victoria state police said drivers were sent “off the beaten track” in recent weeks while attempting to get to the inland town of Mildura, being directed instead to the middle of a national park. “Police are extremely concerned [...]

Apple Updates Its Website To No Longer Claim Its Has “The Most Powerful Mapping Service Ever”

Last week, Tim Cook issued a public apology for the poor Apple Maps experience.

Now its website, which once claimed Apple Maps was “the most powerful mapping service ever,” has been changed to make a more realistic claim.

Digital Inspiration noted its old language:

“Designed by Apple from the ground up, Maps gives you turn-by-turn spoken directions, interactive 3D views, and the stunning Flyover feature. All of which may just make this app the most beautiful, powerful mapping service [...]

Afraid Of Apple Maps, Transportation Startup Uber Tells Its Drivers Not To Upgrade To iOS 6

Uber, a startup that relies on Apple’s iPhones for its drivers to navigate cities and pick up customers, seems afraid of Apple Maps.

TechCrunch says it recently sent a text message to its fleet of drivers instructing them not to upgrade their smart phones to iOS 6 – at least not for another week.

(It’s not clear why Uber only asked for a week delay; maybe it’s hopeful Apple will work out its kinks quickly).

Apple is following Microsoft’s path in alarming ways

A company at the height of its glory releases a new operating system. Some of the things it offers are considered to be copies of what another company already offers.

If it’s 1995, the company is Microsoft and the operating system is Windows 95. If it’s 2012, the company is Apple and the operating system is iOS 6.

Where is Steve Jobs?

Two years ago, the iPhone 4 was released and users quickly experienced issues with the antenna built directly into [...]

Crustal displacement appears to be happening NOW

I mapped these out today and when you look at the big picture something appears to be moving BIGTIME.

Tracks are shifting, sinkholes, sand geysers, bride collapses, gas releases…we have had NUMEROUS reports of high radiation levels in many cities over the past week THAT CORRESPOND TO MANY OF THESE EVENTS…remember prior to the Japan earthquake huge quantities of radon gas were released from fault zones.

To Do What Google Does In Maps, Apple Would Have To Hire 7,000 People

This Fall, Apple will remove the default Google Maps app from its iPhone and iPad operating system, iOS, and replace it with its own in-house designed app.

Apple is going to make its own maps using data from third-parties like TomTom.

After speaking with a pair of Googlers about this, we wonder if Apple may have bitten off more than it can chew.

One big reason: Google has 1,100 full time employees and 6,000 contractors working on its mapping products. Those 7,000 people do [...]

The Global Water Crisis Will Shake Humanity To Its Core

You don’t hear much about the water crisis in the United States. Water is still cheap here and our borders contain a relatively large freshwater supply.

But in some places the crisis is in flames.

1.6 billion people live in regions with absolute water scarcity and by 2025 two-thirds of the world’s population could be living under water stressed conditions.

Late energy analyst Matthew Simmons warned this was scarier than peak oil: “As global population [...]

Microsoft Just Blew Google Away In Social Search

The other shoe has dropped on Microsoft’s recent Bing redesign, and it dropped right on Google.

Microsoft is adding a new Sidebar to Bing search that shows your contacts and activity on all your social networks, including Facebook, Twitter, and — yes — Google+.

Google drew a lot of fire earlier this year by integrating information from Google+ into search results.

The big problem with this is that Google doesn’t offer info from other social networks, like Facebook and Twitter, as prominently. And some data from [...]

Boy, 13, outsmarts world-famous Metropolitan Museum of Art after finding a MISTAKE in a map on his first visit

A 13-year-old boy has outsmarted staff at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art after quickly pointing out an error in one of their exhibits’ maps.

Benjamin Lerman Coady, a seventh grader at Renbrook School in West Hartford, Connecticut, who reads ahead in his school’s history textbooks, told the Hartford Courant that he recognized the mistake on his first visit to the museum last summer.

Originally he thought the museum would be a walk through of ‘just [...]

The 85 things that could now put you on a terrorist watchlist

From Economic Policy Journal:

Because the Department of Homeland Security has asked parts of the public to report suspicious activity through the “Communities Against Terrorism” program , if you visit an airport, stay in a hotel, drink coffee at an Internet cafe, or in some other way interact with one of the “Halloween G-men” in the American public, a full-fledged FBI investigation is only one phone call away, says LaTi.

AG accepts Texas redistricting deal

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Texas’ attorney general agreed Monday to temporary voting maps that add new Hispanic-dominated districts and could save the April 3 date for primary elections statewide. But at least one influential minority group said it would fight the new plan.

Still, the proposal marks a rare moment of agreement in a bitter legal clash that has dragged on since last summer, even reaching the U.S. Supreme Court. Minority [...]
