12 States Where Homeowners Are Deep Underwater On Their Mortgages

1.4 million borrowers moved to positive equity (where homeowners owe less on their mortgage than their home is worth) in the year through the end of Q3.  This is according to CoreLogic’s latest negative equity report.

Illegal immigrant scholarship – 25K per year

BOSTON –  A small liberal arts college in western Massachusetts is offering a new scholarship to illegal immigrants.

Hampshire College officials say the endowment and scholarship will finance one student’s education every four years. The student will get at least $25,000 in scholarship annually, beginning this fall.

An estimated 65,000 illegal immigrants graduate from American high schools each year. Five to 10 percent of them apply for college.

STUDY: New York, Connecticut Top State Income Tax Per Capita

(CNSNews.com) – New York and Connecticut collected the most in state income taxes per capita in 2010, according to figures released by the Tax Foundation.

The foundation analyzed state income tax data in the 50 states and found that New York took in $1,796 on average per person, and in Connecticut, the government took in $1,616 on average per person in state income taxes.
