UN Control Of The Internet Would Mean UN Control Of Free Speech

by Michael

If the UN is given control of the Internet, that would be a massive step toward making the UN a true global government.  The Internet is the number one venue for free speech and freedom of expression on the planet today, and if the UN is given authority over the Internet it would only be a matter of time before free speech is severely cracked down on.  Of course it [...]

EU Wants to Sneak in a Mini-ACTA by the Backdoor

Even after ACTA was rejected by the European Parliament on 4 July this year, the European Commission was still refusing to admit that the treaty was misguided and dangerous. To this day, it’s not clear what it is planning in terms of trying to bring it back in another form, or by negotiating some kind of ACTA Lite with the other signatories.

But one thing is certain: ACTA is only one of the many ways in which the Commission [...]

Like other Internet service providers, Verizon is fighting to derail the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) rules for network neutrality. But Verizon has set itself apart from other ISPs with its legal arguments for why the FCC’s Open Internet Order should be tossed out.

In its legal brief filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, Verizon lawyers claim the FCC has exceeded its regulatory [...]

The U.N.’s Internet Power Grab

It’s easy to understand why countries like Russia, China and Iran would want to rewire the Internet, cutting off access to their citizens and undermining the idea of a World Wide Web. What’s more surprising is that U.S. diplomats are letting authoritarian regimes hijack an obscure U.N. agency to undermine how the Internet works, including for Americans.

The failure by U.S. negotiators to stop attacks on the Internet became known only [...]

The UN Wants Complete Control Over The Internet And That Would Mean Unprecedented Censorship, Taxes And Surveillance

by Michael

One of the fastest ways to ruin the Internet would be to put the United Nations in charge of it.  Unfortunately, that is exactly what the United Nations wants.  The United Nations is now pushing very hard for complete control over the Internet. A proposal that has the support of China, Russia, India, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Iran would give control of the Internet to the UN’s International Telecommunication [...]

Rise of Apple and Facebook is putting Internet freedom at risk, says Google co-founder

‘Walled gardens’ restricting possibilities for innovation online, says Sergey Brin
Governments worldwide – from Iran to the U.S. – also imposing restrictions on free speech online
Google could not have been created if the web was dominated by Facebook, Mr Brin says
He concedes that U.S. authorities ability to force Google to divulge users’ data has eroded trust

The internet is facing its biggest ever threat, thanks in part of Facebook and Apple, the [...]

GOOGLE FOUNDER: WEB FREEDOM UNDER THREAT… ‘Very powerful forces have lined up against open internet on all sides around world’…

(Guardian.co.uk) The principles of openness and universal access that underpinned the creation of the internet three decades ago are under greater threat than ever, according to Google co-founder Sergey Brin.

In an interview with the Guardian, Brin warned there were “very powerful forces that have lined up against the open internet on all sides and around the world”. “I am more worried than I have been in the past,” he said. “It’s scary.”

Popular outrage over SOPA and PIPA has forced the globalists to seek a new line of attack in their effort to control the internet. On February 27, they will engage in a “diplomatic process” that will hand over to the United Nations unprecedented control over a free and open internet.

The defeat of SOPA and PIPA marked the first battle in a war to control the internet.

Numerous countries [...]

FLASHBACK: Gingrich favored censoring web to fight terror

By JOSH GERSTEIN |

1/21/12 5:30 PM EST

At Thursday night’s debate in South Carolina, Newt Gingrich painted himself as a friend of a free and open Internet, but in the past he’s talked up pretty radical proposals to curtail free speech online.

The question Thursday was about the Stop Online Piracy Act, legislation that has the support of the entertainment industry and powerful members of the House and Senate, but is now on life support after running into a [...]

“For over a decade, we have spent millions of hours building the largest encyclopedia in human history. Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open Internet. For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia,” says the message on the page.

The Stop Online Piracy Act is not intended to make the internet more secure or even to protect copyrighted material. Its sole purpose is to codify First amendment killing actions already being undertaken by an out of control federal government.

Media talking heads and bloggers alike continue to debate the technicalities of the legislation, however, it is clear that SOPA [...]

U.S. INQUIRY INTO GOOGLE FOCUSES ON SEARCH AND ADVERTISING

Google confirmed on Friday that the Federal Trade Commission had opened an antitrust investigation into its core search and advertising business.

The inquiry has the potential to turn into the biggest showdown between the United States government and a major technology company since the Microsoft antitrust trial that began in the late 1990s.

In a regulatory filing, Google said that a day earlier it had “received a subpoena and [...]

House Passes Anti-Net Neutrality Resolution

Armed with an ideological agenda, House Republicans took aim at net neutrality again this month, quietly introducing a Congressional “resolution of disapproval” to overturn recent Federal Communications Commission (FCC) laws prohibiting anti-competitive behavior among Internet providers.

H.J. Res. 37 passed 30-23 on March 15, and will now go to the House of Representatives for a vote, which House Speaker John Boehner said in late February [...]
