Warran Buffet owes me $50K and more for pain and suffering

In 1995, my wife and I purchased
a modular double wide from Oakwood
Homes. Oakwood also had it’s
own financing group called
Oakwood Finance.

We signed a mortgage note for
$385 a month payments.

For 14 yrs, we paid on this mortgage
without failure.

In 2009, Oakwood Finance was bought
out by Vanderbilt Mortgage, which is
a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway
owned by Warran Buffet.

After Warran bought out Oakwood Finance,
Warran changed the original contract
mortgage note and our mortgage premiums
increased to $527 a [...]

This surprising country could become the next Cyprus

From Jeff Thomas for Casey Research:

… As the recent events in Cyprus have been unfolding, each iteration has seemed to me to be not only logical, but almost predictable. As Jim Sinclair has recently been stating frequently, the EU has run out of options… The next step is confiscation.

There will, of course, be endless rhetoric and debate, followed by minor adjustments in method and percentage taken, but, ultimately, the powers-that-be [...]

State lawmaker says “dissolving Detroit” should be an option

SARAH CWIEK
michiganradio.org
November 29, 2012

Detroit is at a political impasse that could lead to a financial collapse next month.

Now, one state legislator is saying Lansing should consider “all its options”—including possibly dissolving the city as a municipality.

The idea of dissolving Detroit—and effectively merging it with Wayne County—has popped up occasionally in some business and political circles recently.

But mid-Michigan senator Rick Jones is the first official to publicly discuss that as an [...]

Spain’s Unpleasant Choice: Accept Lower Wages and Still Higher Unemployment, Leave the Euro and Default

by Mike Shedlock, Global Economic Analysis:

On the near 100% probability that Germany will not voluntarily give money to Spain, nor will Germany voluntarily modify its trade policies, the choices facing Spain are quite bleak.

Michael Pettis, writing for Carnegie Europe describes Spain’s unpleasant choices in Spain Will be Forced to Choose.

In the great debate over the economy we sometimes forget the simple arithmetic of economic rebalancing. This arithmetic, like it or not, severely [...]

As people begin to pick up the pieces after Hurricane Sandy, the big question on most people’s minds is whether insurance will kick in or if they will be ignored.

When we spoke to residents of Little Ferry on Thursday after the storm, they were not optimistic about their insurance. When we returned on Sunday, some had gotten through to insurance but were still not sure what would and wouldn’t be covered.

City of Springfield gives up hope for getting paid by campaign

FACEBOOK: Talk about this story on Facebook

***

Springfield’s budget director says the city is out of options to be reimbursed for expenses associated with hosting then-Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign stop in the fall of 2008.

“Short of suing the campaign, which isn’t really going to do anything — it would drag on forever — there’s really nothing we can do,” said Bill McCarty. “We’ve tried.”

Obama introduced his running mate, Joe Biden, at [...]

How to store your silver safely at home

From Resource Investor:

Now that you’ve decided to buy silver, it’s time to think about properly storing and protecting it.

It is often said that silver bullion has no counter-party risk, and in a monetary sense, this is indeed true.

Although silver bullion requires no counter-party to sustain its value, there is and always remains the very real threat of theft.

With the threat of burglary in mind, there are two intelligent options in [...]

John Williams: A Dollar Sell Off Imminent

Economist John Williams of Shadowstats.com says, “You’re likely going to see a dollar sell-off . . . That should evolve into hyperinflation.” Williams predicts, “Hyperinflation is virtually assured because the Fed doesn’t have any options left.” Williams says people should get prepared because we are facing a “man-made disaster.” Join Greg Hunter of USAWatchdog.com as he goes One-on-One with John Williams.

Out of Options? ‘Obama a failure, Republicans not an alternative’

Barack Obama’s Democrats have formally nominated him for re-election in November, during the second day of the Party’s National Convention in North Carolina. SHOCK STUDY: Organic food not healthier

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Organic produce and meat typically isn’t any better for you than conventional varieties when it comes to vitamin and nutrient content, according to a new review of the evidence.

But organic options may live up to their billing of lowering exposure to pesticide residue and antibiotic-resistant bacteria, researchers from Stanford University and the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System found.

The CEO of The World’s Biggest Bond Fund: ECB Capping Bond Yields Is Unlikely To Happen Because It’s An Open-Ended Commitment For Unlimited Intervention

Mohamed El-Erian, the CEO of PIMCO, the world’s biggest bond fund, doesn’t think that’s going to happen.

In an interview with CNBC, El-Erian said he and his team think it’s being discussed at a high level, but that it’s probably not going to happen:

We suspect – we do not know, we suspect – that this is one of the options – capping yields – that the ECB is looking at. We do not think it’s [...]

Europe Has Two Potential “Hail Mary” Passes – Would Either Of Them Work?

Mario Draghi claims he can save the Euro.

I don’t buy it… even for one second. As far as I can see the ECB has one of two “Bail Mary” options. They are:

1)    Massive money printing and buying of sovereign debt

2)    The issuance of Euro-bonds along with across the board banking backstops.

As I noted in a recent article, #1 is impossible. If the ECB does this it will implode the bond market, which means [...]

Your six best options if you need to move and can’t sell your house

From MoneyCrashers:

In June of 2010, my husband and I relocated from Columbus, Ohio, to Lafayette, Indiana, so that he could start a new job. Our house in Columbus was in a well-established and highly attractive neighborhood that had historically been immune to dips in the housing market.

Despite the fact that we were placing our house on the market after spring – the prime real estate season – and the fact [...]

IAC Chairman Barry Diller made the announcement during a quarterly earnings conference call, saying the New York-based company aims to curb investments in the money-losing business. Still, he stopped short of saying it would be a “total” shift to the Internet.

“The transition to online from hard print [...]

If core CPI means anything, Fed options limited

By MarketWatch

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — For years now, the refrain from the Federal Reserve on inflation has gone something like this:

Yes, we see oil (and therefore gasoline) prices rising, and no, we’re not happy about it, but when forecasting future inflation, it’s best to look at the core.

And, it should be quickly added, the Fed was absolutely right. Spikes in oil didn’t lead to massive increases in [...]

Yukon Huang: Is China running out of options?

From FT:

Chastened by the explosive growth of credit-financed expenditures from the past stimulus program, China’s system now has to rely on the recently announced fiscal efforts to accelerate expenditures on infrastructure projects including roads, rail and power plants. While more transparent and less prone to waste, the fiscal channel is more bureaucratic with its expansionary impact less readily felt compared with the banking channel. Thus there continues to be a [...]
