Delays in implementing popular pieces of ObamaCare are hurting it with Democrats.
Ahead of an election year in which Republicans promise to make healthcare an issue again, Democrats are criticizing the White House for delaying policies that could help build support for the unpopular law.
Democrats complained this week about a one-year delay in a key program designed to help small businesses — a central selling point for [...]
Dr Ranjan Batra investigated what happened after the film’s conclusion
State had not filed paperwork – despite voting ‘yes’ in 1995
Mississippi has finally abolished slavery 148 years after the 13th Amendment was first passed by the Senate – thanks to movie-goers at the University of Mississippi.
Dr Ranjan Batra, an associate professor of neurobiology and anatomical sciences at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, saw the Oscar-nominated Steven Spielberg movie Lincoln in [...]
Jobless Americans are paying millions in unnecessary fees to collect unemployment benefits because of state policies encouraging them to get the money through bank-issued payment cards, according to a new report from a consumer group.
People are using the fee-heavy cards instead of getting their payments deposited directly to their bank accounts. That’s because states issue bank cards automatically, require complicated paperwork or phone calls to set up direct deposit and [...]
The Obama administration issued $236 billion worth of new regulations last year, according to a report from a conservative think tank.
The analysis from the American Action Forum, led by former Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Holtz-Eakin, found that the administration added $216 billion in rules and $21 billion in regulatory proposals in 2012. Complying with those rules will require an additional 87 million hours of paperwork, the report said.
The group [...]
In just 14 months, Americans will be required to prove that they have federally “qualified” health insurance or face an Obamacare tax of $695 to $2,085. That is unless you are in prison, below the poverty line, or are an undocumented immigrant, according to the anti-tax group Americans for Tax Reform.
When added together, those three groups total up to one-sixth of the nation’s population of 314 million: 218,929 are in [...]
Richard Koo is the Nomura economist who is famous for his theory of the “balance sheet recession”, the idea that busts like ours or Japan’s are the result of the private sector deleveraging and need to be counteracted with aggressive fiscal policy.
In his latest note, he does a grand tour around the world, making observations in Germany, Japan, Spain, and the US.
The observation about the state of the banking/housing system in [...]

Clearwater - A group of TSA agents attempted to stop Texas Congressman Ron Paul and his family from boarding their private plane at a small airport in Clearwater, Florida on Tuesday, insisting that they submit to an extensive screening and bomb check before flying.
Paul, his wife, Carol, and one of their granddaughters were preparing to depart when eight TSA agents confronted them, according to Lew Rockwell, Paul’s former chief of staff.

These benefits are going to run out for EVERYONE on Jan. 1, 2013 (they’re ALREADY running out for people who are losing their jobs now — I think after June 2012 you’re not able to get them).
They’re running out for me, too (luckily I qualify until the end of the year).
Only a small amount of people *may* get them until June 1st, 2013. After June 1st, 2013, it’s definitely over.
On May 21 Eric Semler asked Rep Tim Bishop, a Democrat, for help getting permission to launch fireworks from his Long Island, New York, home
On May 23, before he received the permits, Mr Semler got an e-mail from Rep Bishop’s daughter asking for a contribution of up to $10,000
House ethics rules bar members from requesting for donations that are linked to Congressional action
Rep Bishop denies asking for quid-pro-quo

President Barack Obama has slightly more than 22 days to drop Vice Presidential Joe Biden from the 2012 Democratic presidential ticket, according to lawyers familiar with the party nominating process. That is, Democrats have until September 6 to formally nominate their presidential ticket which will then be qualified for the 50 state ballots.
And it is still possible for that ticket not to include the current vice president, Joe Biden.
“As a [...]
The Obama administration on Tuesday directed young illegal immigrants to fill out new forms and pay $465 if they want to apply under a new program that would let them avoid deportation and obtain a U.S. work permit.
The paperwork for the program, known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, can be downloaded from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website, said the agency’s director, Alejandro Mayorkas. Applicants must pay a [...]

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration’s new plan to grant temporary work permits to many young, illegal immigrants who otherwise could be deported may cost more than $585 million and require hiring hundreds of new federal employees to process more than 1 million anticipated requests, according to internal documents obtained by The Associated Press.
The Homeland Security Department plans, marked “not for distribution,” describe steps that immigrants will need to take — [...]

In the aftermath of the Aurora, Colorado Batman movie theater shooting, a surveillance video has surfaced that shows the simple, obvious answer to the question on everybody’s mind: How do we stop a massacre?
The answer is revealed in the stunning short video shown below. This remarkable solution:
• Requires no police.
• Costs the taxpayers no money.
• Requires no up-front paperwork.
• Protects innocent lives.
• Is deployed in as [...]
The United States may have come a long way in the fight against institutionalized racism but in California, black children are still being denied access to an important educational tool.
Pamela Lewis wanted to have her 6-year-old son Nicholas take a standardized IQ test (search) to determine if he qualifies for special education speech therapy. Officials at his school routinely provide the test to kids but as Lewis soon found out, not to children who are [...]
BOSTON (CBS) – A Revere woman could end up with a couple of new charges on her criminal record after police say she stole that criminal record from East Boston District Court.
Suffolk county District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said 24-year-old Nicole Difazi walked into the courthouse and requested copies of the paperwork.
Clerk’s office staff told Difazi she could review her records, but that there would be a fee for copying [...]
From Eric Peters:
If using insurance to pay for everything is such a marvelous idea, why not expand the concept? How come, for example, we tolerate paying for tire rotations and oil changes out of pocket?
Why not carry Car Maintenance Insurance (CMI) instead? Wouldn’t this make owning a car more affordable? More fair?
Is it not outrageous that so many millions of Americans aren’t covered?
I’ve asked people who defend Obamacare about this. [...]

3 Russian warship file paperwork to transit into Med next week maybe on their way to #Syria
WASHINGTON — A Pentagon official says the U.S. believes that three Russian ships carrying supplies and possibly personnel are now preparing to depart for Syria.
Capt. John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman, says the U.S. has no reason to believe the supplies are headed anywhere other than Russia’s naval base in the Syrian port [...]
I’m reliably informed that Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, the Budget Committee chairman, has submitted paperwork to the Romney campaign. Sources confirm that he is being vetted for the vice-presidential nomination.
Ryan, one of the GOP’s brightest young stars, is clearly a favorite of Romney allies. But some top Republican officials are wary of plucking him from the House, where he is the party’s most influential voice on fiscal issues.
Marco Rubio is not being considered as Mitt Romney’s vice president in November’s US elections, according to reports.
The Florida Senator has not been approached even though he is one of the Republican party’s most most charismatic leaders and is extremely popular among Latinos.
The news came on the day Rubio’s memoir came out explaining why he left the Mormon church because his family found it too strict.
Not in the running: Marco [...]

Before moving to Canada, I had four magic words that were guaranteed to save me at least 50% on professional medical care. One time, it saved me at least 99%!
If I had to see my regular physician, she would complete the visit, then come a bit closer, and say, “This is cash, right?” Then she’d tear up the paperwork and go to the sample closet and give me drugs. I [...]

“Today James Woosley became the fifth — and highest-ranking — individual to plead guilty as part [...]

The House of Representatives voted late Wednesday night to legalize marijuana for medical purposes for adults — despite a letter from the state’s top federal prosecutor saying that those growing marijuana would be violating federal law.
The vote was 96-51 in favor.
Patients would be required to receive a prescription from a physician to receive marijuana to relieve pain from illnesses such as cancer, glaucoma, HIV and multiple sclerosis. The bill would allow some producers to cultivate and [...]

Man Tries To Relinquish US Citizenship. Application Denied
I was approached recently by a member of our Sovereign Man community who filed the paperwork to relinquish US citizenship some time ago. Long story short, after an incomprehensibly long wait, the US government finally sent him a reply: Application DENIED.
Absolutely shocking. That you even have to ‘apply’ to relinquish what you never signed up for is intellectually insulting. That you cannot do so [...]
