Success Story

72Point

Hard graft, charm and persistence are the secrets to career success, a poll of business high-flyers has revealed.

A study of 500 CEOs, managers and business people earning more than £70k a year also found ‘luck’ is as an vital ingredient as  ‘fate’ and ‘good timing’.

Other attributes which help build success include warmth, intelligence and sense of humour, whilst intriguingly, just two per cent of those polled described themselves as ‘ruthless’ [...]

I believe smart women AND men should really take the time to think about what they’re looking for in a relationship–particularly a long-term one like marriage.

I tell this to my male friends all the time because most of them never consciously contemplate what they’re looking for in someone they want to be in a relationship with (many fall back on the “I know it when I see it” or “it just feels right”) and then go on to complain that all their relationships have been terrible. (Women usually have developed some kind of ‘list’ of [...]

Greenspan Declares Obama’s ‘Worst Mistake,’ Was On Deficit

From HUFFPOST:

Alan Greenspan said something about the budget deficit on Tuesday.

The reason this is “news” is because it is shocking that Alan Greenspan is still allowed ever to speak publicly about matters of importance, when the national interest would perhaps be better served by having Alan Greenspan carted around the United States in stocks, giving citizens the opportunity to hurl tomatoes at him.

WSJ: “The very rich are like the unemployed, except they don’t have the edifying focus of trying to find a job.”

From WSJ:

When I first started covering the very rich, a wealth manager gave me this piece of advice: “The very rich are like the unemployed, except they don’t have the edifying focus of trying to find a job.”

Zero risk

by Chris Martenson

I am working very hard to try and figure out what its going on using limited information.

So far I have received quite a few emails from people essentially stating that any assertion I have that there’s some risk to the idea that decades of spent fuel burning up poses any threat to the US is nonsense.

As in there’s zero risk, it could never happen.  I [...]

Time to bring up that so faithful Hugh Hendry piece of advice: “I would recommend you panic.”

by zh

BBC Newsnight held another great financial round table discussion (why do these occur only in Canada and across the Atlantic? Is it so difficult to have 20 minutes of commercial free debate here in the US where people can actually tell the truth?) which brought together Hugh Hendry, Gillian Tett and Jeffrey Sachs. As usual, Hendry takes it odd with a bang: “I would [...]
