Exxon Mobil Cleans Up Major Tar Sands Oil Spill with PAPER TOWELS

by WashingtonsBlog

(The above is video shot by a local resident in Mayflower, Arkansas.)

And take a look at these must-see pictures of the spill.

No one is admitting how much oil was released.

This is just like BP’s massive efforts to hide the extent and damage from the oil spill – even though their approach led to greater oil pollution – in order to avoid costs.

Indeed, Senator Sander said:

It reminds me of what happened on the Gulf coast. It reminds me of the [...]

Gerald Celente: Forget Our Crumbiling Infrastructure, We Have Wars To Fight

The streets of a U.S. town in the state of Arkansas have been deluged by over ten thousand barrels of crude oil – after an Exxon Mobil pipeline burst on Friday. Around two dozen homes have been evacuated – with some residents forced to stay away for several more days, while a clean-up operation continues. Gerald Celente predicts there will be more oil spills, saying the U.S. is investing more [...]

US Recession Is On The Cards For Q1/Q2

$275 billion worth of economic drag is already in the pipeline for 2013 without even Obamaquester

President Obama has been so busy proactively blaming Republicans for the allegedly dire consequences of the March 1 sequester that he has failed to notice something far more damaging to the American economy. The tax increases already enacted on Jan. 1 by Congress and the president, coupled with the “tax” of higher fuel prices, altogether mean that about $275 [...]

Nebraska set to pump water from aquifer into river!

A pipeline will be laid as soon as possible in the “water farm” project in southern Lincoln County.

Officials want to get the pipeline in operation by June 2013. They will meet Monday in McCook to consider an engineer for the project.

The project, which officially began just six weeks ago, will convert the largest crop farm in Nebraska to a farm from which only water will be harvested.

Conservation officials officially bought [...]

Here Are The Most-Owned Stocks On Capitol Hill

In the wake of the report from the NRDC’s Scott Dodd which revealed that current UN Ambassador and potential new Secretary of State Susan Rice owned millions of stock in Transcanada, the company that wants to build the Keystone Pipeline, we wanted to dig deeper.

In particular, we wanted to take a peek at which stocks boast the most holders in Congress.

As it turns out, the wizards at OpenSecrets have a page set up that shows just that.

Here are [...]

Why California’s Gas Price Nightmare Could Last For Weeks

California drivers may have to wait until November to see any relief at the pump, analysts say.

The state’s gas prices surged 17 cents last night and have spiked 36 cents in the past week.

A confluence of factors have caused Golden State gas prices to jump, including refinery outages and pipeline disruptions.

But the most persistent driver has been the government’s mandate that summer blend gasoline be sold through Oct. 31, AAA [...]

Launch will take place in San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts
CEO Tim Cook expected to unveil new version of the iPhone with a larger 4 inch screen and a controversial new dock connector

In Mississippi, Dress Code Violations and Back-Talk Send Students Straight to Jail

news.yahoo.com
August 13, 2012

Talking back and breaking dress codes may be normal behavior for school-aged kids, but in Lauderdale County, Mississippi, those minor infractions land students in jail. According to the investigative findings of the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, the county operates a brutal “school-to-prison pipeline,” where children face repeated incarceration and abuse for the smallest misdeeds, reports CNN.

The federal agency detailed the results of its nine month [...]

Chinese Citizens Stormed Government Offices Near Shanghai And Forced The Mayor To Strip

The big Chinese news today is out of Qidong, a city of over a million inhabitants one hour north of Shanghai, which has seen widespread protests against an industrial waste pipeline.

Protests in China aren’t rare, but the scale and violence of this protest make it remarkable. Reuters reports that 1,000 protestors marched on government offices, eventually storming and vandalizing them, as well as turning over at least five cars and one minibus.

Cash-Strapped French Socialists Face Austerity

The champion of a moderate stimulus plan for Europe, at home French President Francois Hollande is turning his back on the sort of infrastructure investment he hopes will revive European growth.

His cash-strapped Socialist government is considering scrapping all but the most needed projects as it is forced to weigh questionable economic benefits in an era of belt-tightening.

Yet, more investment in infrastructure lies at the center of the 120 billion ($145 billion) European [...]

Michigan governor declares emergency over fuel shortage – @Reuters

(Reuters) – Michigan Governor Rick Snyder on Tuesday declared an energy emergency in the state due to temporary shortages of gasoline and diesel fuel in parts of the Upper Peninsula caused by the shutdown of a pipeline in Wisconsin.

The emergency declaration suspends state and federal regulations that limit hours of service for motor carriers and drivers transporting gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel to address the shortages, Snyder said in [...]

Like a Hollywood set, housing inventory looks to be low only because that is what is being presented. Orange County foreclosure pipeline twice the size of non-distressed MLS inventory.

The decrease in nationwide inventory is an ongoing trend.  Keeping supply constricted has clearly helped with pushing prices higher as demand is now competing for a smaller number of homes.  A lower mortgage rate has also pushed the monthly payment amount lower thus allowing home buyers to purchase more home with stagnant income levels.  The recent employment report should come as no surprise.  The recent moves in the housing market [...]

REPORT: Federal gov’t sitting on $70 billion in unspent cash

The federal government has at least $70 billion that has languished for years in unspent accounts, never reaching the states, localities, businesses and taxpayers the money was designed to help, according to a new report by Sen. Tom Coburn.

Mr. Coburn, the Senate’s chief waste-watcher, said in many cases politicians and bureaucrats ignored money already in the pipeline and went out to try to corral more funding instead.

This year alone the [...]

Study Finds Fox News Viewers Least Informed Of All Viewers

HUFFPOST

Another study has concluded that people who only watch Fox News are less informed than all other news consumers. Researchers at Fairleigh Dickinson University updated a study they had conducted in late 2011. That study only sampled respondents from New Jersey, where the university is located. This time, the researchers conducted a nationwide poll. The poll asked questions about international news (Iran, Egypt, Syria and Greece were included) and domestic affairs (Republican [...]

ROMNEY: ‘DAY ONE’

Mitt Romney’s campaign released its first television commercial of the general election Friday, a spot that outlines a series of “day one” goals for a Romney presidency.

The ad, expected to run in Iowa, Ohio, North Carolina and Virginia, features a narrator speaking over stock footage of the American heartland and Romney on the campaign trail, outlining what “a Romney presidency would be like.”

“Day one, President Romney immediately approves the Keystone pipeline, creating [...]

Dr. Housing Bubble: The crashing US housing metro areas – Atlanta home values crash by 17 percent in last year and Las Vegas continues to move lower. Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco continue to make post-bubble lows.

US home prices have once again made a post-bubble low in spite of all the artificial intervention and massive bailouts to financial institutions.  The bottom line unfortunately is that US household incomes have been strained for well over a decade.  You can slice it up by nominal or inflation adjusted data but household incomes have been moving in a negative direction during the 00s and continuing into this decade.  Keep in mind [...]

The Second Foreclosure Tsunami Is Coming, And Is About To Kill Any Hopes Of A “Housing Bottom”

In what appears to be surprising news for some, Reuters has an article titled “Americans brace for next foreclosure wave” whose key premise is that “a painful part two of the [housing] slump looks set to unfold: Many more U.S. homeowners face the prospect of losing their homes this year as banks pick up the pace of foreclosures.” Thank the robosettlement, where in exchange for a few wrist slaps, contract law [...]

Oil refineries stock, gas prices and natural gas well

Well this little universe has gotten some strange movements.  Oil from the id west is seeling at almost half of what is being imported.  People in the industry are claiming that this oil is land locked and trapped by the lack of the keystone pipeline.  I call bull on that one.  After all of these years suddenly this supply is so land locked it sells for 1/2?  Who is playng [...]

GOP’s gas price politics could prove fleeting (Obama takes office $1.68, Obama now $3.88)

Republicans have in recent weeks waged an all-out blitz against President Barack Obama over the issue of gas prices, but the political benefit could prove fleeting, if and when fuel prices decline.

The steady rise in gas prices this spring provides Republicans with their most immediate example of the pocketbook fleecing suffered by voters, prompting the party to pounce. While some indicators point toward a tentative economic recovery — which could [...]

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus: “This President has shut down everything when it comes to energy independence. in this country.” Meanwhile, U.S. reliance on foreign oil is at its lowest point since the Clinton administration, having dropped from 57% of total consumption in 2008 to 45% in 2011.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Preibus, today on Face the Nation:

Republicans have been in favor of this Keystone pipeline. 20,000 jobs. If there ever was such thing as shovel ready project, here’s one of them. Plus it would get us a step closer to energy independence. It wouldn’t be the whole deal, but its a step closer. And this President has shut down everything when it comes to energy independence in [...]

Canada’s Tar Sands: So Destructive its Well-Paid Workers quit

Amidst all the political wrangling over the Keystone XL pipeline, some may lose sight of what the fight is ultimately about. And that, of course, is one of the most environmentally devastating projects ever undertaken: the tar sands mining operation in Alberta, Canada. Today, a Reddit user who says he was until recently a well-paid tar sands worker, shared the following video—along with why he quit his job over moral objections [...]

Keystone Pipeline Permit Requested to be Renewed

The White House welcomed the company’s decision to move forward with the Gulf Coast part of the pipeline on Monday.

“As the president made clear in January,” it said, “we support the company’s interest in proceeding with this project, which will help address the bottleneck of oil in Cushing that has resulted in large part from increased domestic oil production, currently at an eight-year high.”

“We look forward to working with TransCanada [...]

Obama: Don’t blame me for these gas prices

AP

President Obama does not “accept responsibility” for high gas prices, his spokesman indicated today, arguing that Obama has done everything he could to bring down the price of oil and blaming the high gas prices on oil price increases caused by global factors.

“The president accepts the responsibility that he identified the next president should accept, back in 2008, which is the need to develop a comprehensive energy policy,” White House [...]
