One bitter owner: Scorned mom uses husband’s affair to sell family home (and she’s even been offered dinner)

A scorned and bitter mother-of-two is using her ex-husband’s affair with a yoga-loving 22-year-old as a quirky marketing ploy to sell the home they once shared.

Elle Zober, 37, planted a realtor’s sign out the front of her Portland, Oregon, home on Friday, informing potential buyers, and the entire neighbourhood, that her three-bedroom house was on the market because of her husband’s infidelity.

Realtors nationwide report cancellations of existing home sale contracts have hit 20%, far above the historical norm of 4%-6%, a rate Diana Olick considers “shocking and does not suggest a rebound on the horizon.”

It’s not just the inability of some to get a mortgage; bigger issues are failed inspections, appraisals, buyers with cold feet and adverse economic conditions.

From CNBC:

For the past several months, Realtors across the nation have been reporting an ever-increasing number of cancelled existing home sale contracts. The latest Realtors Confidence Index now puts the cancellation rate at 20 percent, way up from the historical norm of around four to six percent.

Regarding the use of an real estate Agent:

by Neutrino

I have a background in real estate purchases for investment purposes dating back 10 years.   There are times when I have used them but most times I have not. FWIW I sold every property I owned including my primary residence by the summer of 2007 against the advice of every realtor i know including close friends. Here are some pro’s and cons from my [...]

Home prices officially double dip:

It’s official.

Home prices have double dipped nationwide, now lower than their March 2009 trough, according to a new report from Clear Capital.

It was inevitable, and it was predicted (by me for sure) that a surge in sales of foreclosed properties and a big push by banks to facilitate short sales would force home prices down dramatically.

Sales of bank-owned (REO) properties hit 34.5 percent of the market, [...]

Rent inflation? $20,000 A Month…

Party girl, Paris Hilton’s old apartment is on the rental market for $20,000 per month.

She listed the place in 2007 and sold it in just ten days, and now the current owners are looking to rent it.

The listing agent? Mauricio Umansky, husband of Real Housewife Kyle Richards.

And yes, this is the home Paris was famously torn out of by Los Angeles Country deputies for her DWI charges.

Where is the equality? Where is my free rent?

by Kevin McGrath

I live in America, and I took out a mortgage. Free information is everywhere. The internet. The library. Heck, call a Realtor; we always seem to be working for free. I got a little educated with that free information, and I signed the papers. I did not read all the documents; who does? I might as well have been a robosigner myself. I remember the closer telling [...]

Wells Fargo, Citi and BoA figure out had badly they’ve screwed up as well.

by Steve Dickson

This is potentially going to be the biggest financial hit yet.

Today, it got worse.

The bank announced they’re freezing a total of 56,000 foreclosures, signed by employees who were handed an impossible task.

From AOL:

JP Morgan has admitted that its foreclosure processors were under so much pressure to push through thousands of mortgage defaults that they rarely, if ever, reviewed the files for accuracy.

Now there’s [...]

A house is not an investment, it is a place to live.

I am currently building a house in the Midwest Rust belt. It is where we live now and we want the house we want. Plus, we are near sixty and I am in poor health. If we don’t build now, we (as a couple) won’t get to. Also, since my health prevents travel, inability to pursue our hobbies, etc., it is the only luxury we enjoy [...]
