“Geraldo Rivera said Friday that his sources tell him the U.S. was involved in a secret mission in Libya to arm the Syrian rebels, which was the reason for the initial secrecy about the attack in Benghazi.
Rivera said on “Fox & Friends” that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney may have been briefed by then-CIA Director David Petraeus “to suggest that there was a secret mission going on there, that we [...]
Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus followed up on the RNC’s so-called “autopsy report” on “Morning Joe” Friday, telling its hosts that Republicans need to stop saying “stupid” and “idiotic” things and urging a shorter presidential primary process.
Responding to a question from conservative host Joe Scarborough, Priebus agreed that the Republican Party needed to “open up its tent” to appeal to a larger percentage of the American public.
“You’ve got to make Reagan’s 80-20 rule cool [...]

The farce known as the American electoral process has proven, yet again, that the voice of the American people is to be heard only if it speaks in lockstep with the status quo.
“Republican National Committee officials essentially reshuffled the makeup of Maine’s delegation to the convention after determining that the state’s delegate-selection process in May was riddled with illegal votes and parliamentary violations.

MSNBC host Chris Matthews lashed out at Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus Monday, attacking Republican campaign rhetoric and accusing presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney of playing the race card.
Referring to Mitt Romney’s reference last week to his own birth certificate, Matthews said, “That cheap shot about ‘I don’t have a problem with my birth certificate’ was awful. You are playing that little ethnic card there. You can play your games and giggle about it, but the [...]

In a resolution, the Republican National Committee made clear its objection to “three global taxes and a global monetary governance mechanism to raise $400 [...]
“Now there’s additional good news and bad news for the Florida GOP.
The bad: The Republican National Committee won’t back off cutting Florida’s voting delegates from 99 to 50, and it will strip Florida of more than 160 guest passes. Nor will the Florida delegation have prime front row seats at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, as they often have had at prior conventions.
The good: Even though Florida will have only 50 [...]

Goldman Sachs Group (GS) employees have changed to red from blue.

A prominent Maine Republican from Cumberland County has filed a challenge with the Republican National Committee over the election of all but one of the delegates to the national convention to be held next month in Tampa.
All but one of the delegates elected that weekend was a Ron Paul supporter. Gov. Paul LePage’s election as an uncommitted delegate was not challenged.
The election of the 14 at-large delegates and their alternates [...]

Another North Carolina Democrat is refusing to support President Obama’s reelection effort. This time it’s Rep. Larry Kissell.
“[H]e doesn’t plan to endorse Obama for re-election and isn’t sure he’ll attend his party’s national convention in Charlotte,” McClatchy reports. “Kissell represents the 8th District, which runs from Mecklenburg County to Robeson County. The Republican National Committee just launched “People v. Obamacare,” a website to fight back against the Supreme Court decision upholding the Affordable Care Act and its individual mandate.
Mitt Romney press secretary Andrea Saul tweeted that the site has already raised more than $200,000 for Romney in about an hour. If true, that’s astounding.
Here’s a look at the website:

Word out of Iowa is that Ron Paul won a majority of that state’s delegates to the Republican National Convention to be held in August in Tampa, Florida. This is contrary to the story told on election night in January when first Mitt Romney and then, after a recount, Rick Santorum was declared the winner of the Hawkeye State’s caucus.
After what the Des Moines Register described as a “two-day tug-of-war [...]
Republic Report has covered how political money can corrupt government by influencing the actions of elected representatives. But professional hacks can also disrupt democracy by interfering with the voting process itself.
Late last year, Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign began paying Nathan Sproul, a political consultant with a long history of destroying Democratic voter registration forms and manipulating ballot initiatives. Sproul, who changed his firm’s name from Sproul and Associates to Lincoln [...]
President Barack Obama, defending his economic record after unemployment rose to 8.2 per cent last month, has told Americans that ‘the private sector is doing just fine’.
Speaking at a White House press conference, Obama sought to blame troubles in the European economy, the legacy of President George W. Bush and inaction by Congress for poor economic numbers in the United States.
But then he offered what Republicans immediately seized on as [...]

The totals helped the president exceed his fundraising haul in [...]
Republicans believe that Governor Scott Walker’s resounding victory in Wisconsin has broken the power of America’s labour unions and could pave the way for Mitt Romney winning the White House in November.
The 15-month battle for Wisconsin was treated by Republicans and Democrats alike as the biggest showdown over union power since President Ronald Reagan sacked 11,000 air traffic controllers for illegally striking in 1981.
Reagan’s victory in facing down the union [...]
As President Barack Obama began a West Coast fundraising tour on Wednesday to raise millions for his re-election campaign, Republicans seized on the glitzy events to paint him as out of touch with Americans struggling with economic distress.
Obama spoke with well-heeled donors at two events in San Francisco and was to fly later to Los Angeles to headline a Beverly Hills gala with gay and lesbian activists.

Despite the persistent gender gap in opinion polls and mounting criticism of their hostility to women’s rights, Republicans are not backing off their assault on women’s equality and well-being. New laws in some states could mean a death sentence for a pregnant woman who suffers a life-threatening condition. But the attack goes well beyond abortion, into birth control, access to health care, equal pay and domestic violence.

Mitt Romney raised $40.1 million in April, just a little bit shy of the $43.6 million raised the same month by President Obama, the New York Times reports.
Romney’s take is a huge $12.6 million step up from his March fundraising total, while Obama’s represents a nearly $10 million decline.
Romney could easily have eclipsed Obama in April except for a technicality. Romney’s emergence as the presumptive GOP candidate in [...]
